In Switzerland everything is very expensive and hotels are not exception. This hotel can be considered quite affordable having in mind the average prices. It’s not a luxurious hotel but you find everything in order. The two most positive aspects are the location (facing the shrine) and the friendly staff. Enjoy!

It is a kind of Guesthouse , where you can enter and exit whenever you want, but there is no wifi , no service , no furniture on the bathroom ( execpt for towel ) and at least you have a Tv . But for sleep some days is ok .

I spent five nights in this friendly hotel and was enchanted by the surroundings, the abbey, the hills behind and the lake within a twenty minute walk. An ideal place to stop if one is following the St, Jacob's Way (part of the camino to Santiago di Campostella). The hotel is situated on the main square across from the Benedictine...

Glynis, are you sure we were at the same hotel? The experience you describe is completely unrealistic to the actuality of the experience. The staff were most unhelpful and unocomodating and no hot water for 4 days is most unexceptable from a paid holiday experience. In regards to the "excellent food" could I ask what it was exactly that you...

We booked to go away for a "Wonderful Christmas" in Switzerland but our dreams were shattered on arrival at the Hotel. The Hotel Manager was arrogant and rude and the food was dispicable. The room had paint flaking from the celing, a cracked window and the bed was broken. The bathroom facilities were located in the room and we had...

Einsiedeln is a pleasant small town that is the location of the historic and magnificent baroque Benedictine Abbey of St. Meinrad. This summer a sort of Passion Play will be performed in the Klosterplatz. The Hotel Sonne is a modest but nice facility directly on the Klosterplatz, the great plaza in front of the abbey church. It is a 5...

“If you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back, the monastray bells can be loud, every hour and call to prayer at 5 15am.although we faced directly on to the monastary it never bothered me.The bed was so comfortable I slept like a log.”
