We were placed here due to strike action. On arrival we were informed that the hotel would provide us with bed/breakfast and an evening meal and water thanks to easyjet. Anything else we were to pay for ourselves. Bedrooms were basic, nothing like the photo's, fridge was extremely dirty so didn't use, carpets were very heavily stained and not hoovered. No English channels on tv, (as we had 2 days of rain) was told our meal times were 7.00 am - 8.30 am food was really poor... cook making eggs and omelettes extremely rude tutting and talking to himself no smiles or hellos.. waiting on staff, made no attempts to talk at all. Food in the evening, was extremely poor, veg had literally just been pulled out of the ground they were more than aldente!.. food was cold and tiny flies were in abundance. Also we were told our meal times were 7.00 -8.30pm even though the restaurant was still open at 11.00pm for other guests?.. Ordered drinks at the bar to find staff were really slow with orders, ordered a vodka and coke and a vodka Fanta lime..only to be given coke and lemon when I explained I wanted vodka in them they were literally thrown at me and then she preceded to put another room number into the computer after me telling her numerous times what ours was... there was no outside bar, entertainment by a nice lady called alexx made the days bearable always smiling and happy only good thing about this place!...snacks available were from the bar, were small for some, a cold omelette and 6 chips, with a sprig of lettuce was received by my friend where some meals the chips were falling of the plates!.. if you stay here there are some bars/restaurants up a 10 minute hill, walk there if you can, better service nicer food, nicer people. Did not try the spa so cannot comment on that nor was I there to play golf either! Did speak to a gentleman who was here for golf, and even he said he was bored as there was nothing else to do here!.. entertainment in the evening was very good a spanish lady with an excellent voice, was brilliant and a guy who played the guitar, both very entertaining in English and Spanish. Did feel like we were abit of an inconvenience to this hotel even though it wasn't our doing. To come from a 5 star hotel to this was not like for like!...

My partner and I stayed in Hotel Bonalba for a week. We decided on check in to go all-inclusive which was €55 each per day. This included breakfast lunch and dinner, all local drinks including alcohol. You could also order food in between meals. The burger is fantastic by the way. I can't say enough about the food which is incredible, loads of variety of fish, all meats, tons of variety of veg, potatoes, salads cheeses and breads. The swimming area is stunning, they also have an indoor pool. The room was lovely with air-con, bathroom with a double sink and powerful shower. Room was very clean and basic but all rooms abroad are so not a problem. Double bed was the comfiest I've been in on hols. The room was serviced every day, bed dressed, room cleaned, new towels. Staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough for you. This hotel is ideal for couples as you can totally chill and relax. There's also a spa which we didn't use and a fantastic golf course on the complex which we didn't use either. Can't say enough good things about our experience except it is 10 mins by taxi from everything. That's not the hotel's fault as it is what it is. Also, if they had a little shop on site would be helpful. I read these reviews when booking that's why I'm doing one as I don't get some of the negative comments about the hotel. Pay the few quid extra and you'll have a luxurious time. John - Ireland.

A very nice family hotel. Excellent food and the entertainment ladies were brilliant. They used a mixture of Spanish, French and English to speak to the kids. Our room was a deluxe family with a separate room for adults and the kids on pullouts in the living area. Beds were big and very comfortable and included good air conditioning. We also had two bathrooms, which was always handy. The pool area was excellent and well maintained with a bar that sold drinks only. We went on BB package as I hired a car for the week, as we wanted to explore the area. Pros * Excellent animation team * Very friendly staff * Pool area * Breakfast very nice and the one evening we did eat in the hotel, had a good variety of food * Mainly Spanish, so was able to use my very limited Spanish Rooms cleaned and well presented Cons * No tea/coffee facilities in the room ( would expect this for 4* Sup) * Required to pay for safety ( would expect free of charge as is a security issue and expected of a 4*) * Expensive drinks if not on AI package * Expensive car park fees and garage not designed for larger vehicles All in all a lovely holiday and a really nice hotel with lovely staff. Muchas gracias a todas/todos.

Only a one night stay due to cancelled flight. Informed the property that we'd be early and can we use facilities. No problem, all good. However on arrival (only at 15:30) so half an hour early the room wasn't ready. Ok we're slightly early we'll wait where we were told and the reception would let us know when ready. Half an hour queuing back at 16:15 and still no updates. Eventually reception said to go and use pool and she'll call me when ready (why isn't it ready)! Anyway, the pool is great by the way but still no calls. 18:30 we could use the room.... The rooms are no way equivalent of a 4 star. Did the cleaners actually come?? Family room is just a double and a sofa bed, I've had bigger doubles. Anyway we left our swimming clothes to dry on the balcony and went down to the restaurant as our young kids were hungry. Restaurant not open til 20:00... Kids hanging.. You have to queue to get a voucher at reception for an average buffet that is late for toddlers . The bar area is extremely poor, no acknowledgment you're queing and they don't serve in any order. We were second in a queue with no-one behind for about 5 mins as the bar person was doing a cocktail. As he's nearly finished, a group came to the bar and just spoke over the person waiting and his order was in.. we just walked away in a wtf is going on mode It's also 8:00 for breakfast which didn't help as we needed to leave at that time to catch a flight.. In our rush we forgot out clothes on the balcony. I contacted the property by phone and through the booking site and they confirmed the cleaners had put them in some lost property. I asked how I should get them back and was bluntly told they don't ship!. Why thanks... I'll arrange DHL, just tell me when to send them. 2 weeks later of back and forth they now have lost them and don't have the items anymore. I don't know about anyone else's standards but it's just poor all round for which should be a good hotel. It's just not catered for families with toddlers or the British. The French seem to accept bad customer service and crack on.

Beautiful Hotel but not close to amenities as brochure states. No shop onsite.(1st Hotel I,ve ever stayed in with none) Staff were brilliant couldn't fault them and breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. Bring an iron as everyday I asked for one from reception and cleaning staff and never received one for 7 days stay because they seem to only have few and they were always out. Rooms were spacious & clean. beds were comfortable but no tea/coffee/kettle in rooms and you can't get coffee from breakfast until your allocated time. Pool area is stunning with plenty of sunbeds. The pool itself is beautiful and water is warm not freezing like other places I have stayed.

The hotel is large and looks elegant in arrival. Reception area is good. Bar is not very welcoming. The furniture is more motorway cafe than 4 star hotel. The food in the bar was very good. The evening restaurant food was very medioca. Should have eaten in the bar where the club sandwich and chips was wonderful. The bed room was large clean and so was the bathroom. Good view of the pool and surrounding area. Looked nice but was not used due to cold weather. The spa was a big disappointment. The pool needed a really good clean around the top edges where it is black. It could actually do with a complete overhaul. Only 2 jets and the water was not spa temperature at around 30. It should be nearer to 36. The jacuzzi was out of use. The sauna was good. The steam room was cold. I asked the receptionist to turn it on (11.15). It turned out it was not working. The technician was called in and 15 minutes later it was fixed. The receptionist should checked every morning that all facilities are working. A client should not have to tell her (having just got out of the pool) as she should have known and had it rectified first thing. There is on a garage on site. Very tight turns to get to parking space near the lift. On the whole OK but won't rush back unless our group return when I will have no option.

We booked the hotel for bed breakfast and dinner for one night as I was playing Bonalba Golf in the morning and fancied an overnight stay. The hotel is large and spacious, the outside pool area huge and well laid out. The hotel was not full and we booked in and asked about parking, yes there was parking in an underground carpark but it was an extra €10 we paid and put our car there. There was room for some 60 cars, 8 were there. We went to our room which was large and well presented overlooking the huge pool area. We unpacked and went to the pool, selected a couple of sun beds, it was not busy and went to collect a towel from the pool side bar. They could not issue us a towel as we had to pay for a towel at reception! So I donned my mask, put on a top and went to reception with my room card queued up and asked for a towel €20 for two towels and I could not put it on my room! So I then went up to the room got €20 note came back queued again at reception, handed over €20 the was given a chit to take to the poolside bar! What a performance! Why couldn’t I just not have show my card at the poolside bar? As per our Parador experience? We spent a pleasant afternoon around the pool, took our towels back to reception and got our €20 back. We then got dressed for dinner, went to the bar by the restaurant had drinks and waited for it to open. We were told when we booked in the opening times of the restaurant and we duly waited. The restaurant did not open, we were told there were not enough people eating in it so we would have to go to the Buffett area, not what we expected. We were very disappointed. The Buffett set up was very confusing and apparently you could have some things cooked and help your selves to other things, we felt a bit out of place as we were smartly dressed and all the other folk had come straight from the pool with their families. It would have been nice if that had all been explained when we booked in!! The food was Ok, but not what we expected. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep, the breakfast (in the Buffett area) was very good. Over all the hotel is good, we just wished things could have been explained more! We speak Spanish. I played golf on the excellent golf course, not sure if we would go back as I say we were disappointed with the organisation.

After booking a family holiday and having a free night during our holiday we booked via Booking.Com this hotel. Due to Covid we had to cancel on government advise and subsequently asked for a refund via the agent and direct with the hotel several times. Several times later the hotel still ignores all emails and correspondence from ourselves and Booking.Com Beware they bury their heads in the sands after taking your money. Shocking awful considering the pandemic

We were initially booked to stay 3 nights while house hunting in the region but extended an extra 3 days as the hotel is great. Anyone with access to a map can see it's not in the centre of Alicante and about a 15min drive away so a car is needed. There is a hotel bus that you can catch but we never used this. The staff are all very professional and friendly and make you feel welcome. The family room is fine, fold out couch for thr kids and a nice large and comfortable bed for us. 2 bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower. There is the obligatory minibar which has some water, coke-a-cola and fanta orange. Due to covid and health precautions there is no tea or coffee facilities in the room so any drinks need come from the minibar, vending machine or room service. There are various boarding options from just the room up to fully inclusive. We opted for just bed and breakfast. There are two "shifts" for all meals, again for health reasons and you can choose when booking in which slot to go for. The buffet has a large selection of juices, fresh fruit, various pastries and rolls, eggs, "bacon", mushrooms, beans, tomato and hash browns. There is also cold meats and cheeses for a more continental breakfast. Also the usual cereals and yoghurts are available. Hot drinks are made to order so a good choice from plain coffee to a cortado or various tea infusions and hot chocolate. We never experience cold or dried out food while we stayed. The swimming pool is the main selling point for families I would say and they have a great children's entertainer who also does aqua aerobics. Lifeguards are on duty most of the day apart from a 2hr slot. Plenty of loungers and shade spots under thatching. We spent a fair bit of time by the pool as did most of the other guests. There is a bar by the pool open in busy season or you can sit outside and enjoy a meal and drink from the bar menu. The menu is slightly limiting and could include just a few more dishes like maybe a pasta dish or steaks. With a car everywhere is fairly easy to get to when heading in to Alicante or further afield. There are some restaurants and a small shop about 10min away up the road should you wish head elsewhere but still close to the hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and can't fault anything major, the bar menu being the most limiting thing. Again, the staff are all great and all speak English very well which was fantastic as my Spanish is malo. Would return again.

Booked the hotel direct, as two of the family are Vegetarian. Was told not a problem, the chef would do what ever you wanted. On arrival we were disappointed with the junior suite, looked very dated, something from the 1980. Enjoyed the pool. No staff in the outside bar and had go into the hotel and press a bell for service not what you expect from a 4 Star hotel. When down for dinner. Asked what options they had for vegetarians was told none! Two ordered and got what I can only say was very low standard. After 27 minutes the vegetarian meal arrived TWO BABY BOWELS OF PASTA. Asked for a manager and was told none in the hotel. Please remember this is a 4 Star hotel. Would have checked into a nearby hotel ,but at the hotel is in the middle of nowhere this was not a option. Had a mean in a local bistro which was of a higher standard. Following morning talked to the GM Vanessa. Who confirmed that there was no managers on duty, but did say she could have been phoned ! I have never stayed in a hotel with out a manager on duty. She did offer to refund the meal. Considering that the hotel stay had been a disaster I turned it down. Not sure what standard Sercotel hotels think is 4 star .More like 2 Star.
