Just returned from a week at this hotel firstly can I just say this is a beautiful hotel rooms are lovely and clean and the swimming pool was lovely, we originally booked for bed and breakfast only but after arriving at the hotel realised that it is actually very far out so we upgraded to all inclusive unfortunately the buffet was very poor the food was always cold and hardly any choice atall then we decided to try the snack bar which looked lovely but was told we wasn’t allowed any food during lunchtime or teatime ( which is exactly when you want it !!) we wasn’t allowed a drink till after 11 and there are 2 other restaurants on site which we could only use if we paid for them it is honestly the worst all inclusive we have ever had so actually asked for a refund for the last 4 days . I honestly wouldn’t recommend this hotel to English it’s too far out from the shops and restaurants unless you have a car as a taxi is €60 return into Alicante, there is a few restaurants about 15 minutes walk and a small shop for essentials but that is literally all . We never really felt very welcome here I think it’s more for the Spanish they would always be served first and none of the staff speak much English.

Thank you very much for the time you spent to share your personal impressions of your stay at Bonalba Hotel. We always welcome feedback, as it allows us to continually improve the experience we create for our guests. All trays of our buffets are being constantly checked by our kitchen staff to ensure that the temperature of the food is adequate and that all options are being replenished throughout all services, nevertheless please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the team so as to avoid receiving this kind of feedback in the future. We have to inform you that all reception staff speak French, as it is a requirement to work at reception. Regarding restaurants, we have to inform you that the Cervantes a la carte restaurant where you have -40% thanks to the all-inclusive pension, half-board you have -30%. "Truly, our hotel is located in an unbeatable area, close to the golf course, several restaurants and bars, which allows guests to enjoy all of nature. We are 10 minutes by car from the beach of El Campello and San Juan, and 15 minutes from Alicante. Also, just 5 minutes from our hotel we have a direct motorway to get to Alicante, Benidorm, Valencia. What remains easy to access. If you do not have a car, the hotel has a private driver for a cost of €10 round trip to El Campello, where you will find a beach, restaurants, supermarket, port, tram, etc,....Once more we thank you for choosing our hotel for your holiday and very much look forward to having the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Read the reviews before we arrived and was a little unsure, however I can only think that the people who wrote these negative reviews stayed in a different hotel or they want to keep the place exclusive to them. Please ignore any negative reviews the hotel was clean, bar staff are brilliant and the kids team work their socks off and no complaints about the food either. Yes it’s a little out the way but you can easily grab a cab into Alicante, a mini bus to the beach and there are some great bars and restaurants 5 mins up the road. Thank you all Team Bonalba you have done yourself proud.

Hello Firstly I’d like to say don’t listen to half these bad reviews . People that say it’s in the middle of no where clearly haven’t done any research prior to booking this hotel , which absolutely baffles me. El Campello and San Juan are a 10 minute cab journey or car if you have one away. Two beautiful beaches for the family or couples to enjoy. There’s a few small shops and bars 5 minute walk from hotel if you want something different. As for the hotel , it’s been updated since we last went , rooms currently still under going refurbs , we had top floor overlooking the pool it was a stunning view every morning and a very spacious room for me and my kids and wife. We have stayed at this hotel twice before and also my parents have had apartments they bought in the bonalba complex. For me personally to not have many English there is bliss I don’t come away on holiday to see English , I like the culture of the Spanish and the fact I try to speak some to which is good. No idea why people say it’s not a clean hotel , there was a cleaner in the toilets every single morning without fail , spotless and the pool area was so clean every time we went down there. Food was a great selection we had full board , every meal we had was brilliant and the staff always stocked up when the buffet got low on food. I will say if you don’t like waiting in queues or waiting in general to be served for drinks at the bar or reception then this isn’t the place for you neither is any of Spain 😂 they are very relaxed people and they take there time and you have to respect that. Overall for me I had a fantastic 8 days got back yesterday , my kids loved it and I will give one more special mention to AMY the animation team , she is outstanding with kids I mean the best I’ve ever seen with them , she is truly gifted, made everyone feel welcome always smiling , loads of energy and she had kids around her all day they were in awe of her , my three children loved her , please show her this review whoever reads this from hotel bonalba , I forgot to say bye to her as couldn’t find her on final day ( just say to her I was the dad of Jenson and Rocco the twins ) from south London she will know who we are , she’s not back until Tuesday night I believe so maybe she could read it then I wish her the best in life ,a superb dancer too. Just a lovely person. Thankyou for such a great stay had the best time with my family. Regards Neal

We came Yesterday. The receptionist seemed irritated and was not friendly and welcoming. The room is ok. There is a lot of noise, thoug High high Music and it is impossible to sleep before 01 at night. There is high Music from 10 in the morning again. If you have'nt bought all inclusive forget about eating. There is an ala carte restaurant, but you have to make a reservation and they are VERY unfriendly. You Can buy a ticket to Eat in the all inclusive restaurant. The food is eatable, but the staff and whole inviroment is so stressfull. The noise is overwhelming and the room has absolutely no charm or comfort. The breakfast was eatable. Not good. The coffe and the juice awfull. You Can Eat at the cafeteria. The only have a poor selection af food. No fish except a tuna sandwich. Almost the whole staff seems very stressed, and you feel not welcomed, if you have any questions. Very few of Them speaks english, so if you don't speak any spanish GOOD LUCK! There is no minimarked at the hotel and there is no supermarked nearby. Since the hotel is VERY VERY isolated good luck, if you need diapers or sunlotion. I went to the bar at the pool and asked to buy a softdrink. The lady smiled at me, and then placed a sign in front of me. She didn't speak english, but I understood that she closed the bar. Just in front of me... If you want to drink anything, you have to get dressed and go inside at the hotel to buy it at the cafeteria. You cant buy anything outside at the very large pool area... That is especialy a problem, since there is no option to buy anything at a supermarked. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. I have never felt so unwanted at any hotel at have ever visited. The service at this hotel is definitly not as any other 4 star hotel.

PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL!!!! MY DAUGHTER HAS FOOD POISONING!!! I have recently visited this hotel with my wife and 2 young children. The hotel is filthy - carpet in rooms stained, they do not clean the public toilets and they were covered in faeces everyday. old cigarettes lying in and around pool. I never seen the pool are being cleaned once. Food was poor and always cold, burgers and chicken from snack bar lying out all day STONE COLD. On our third day of holiday my 5 year old daughter started being violently sick with vomiting and diarrhea, I had to take her to the local hospital after I explained to the hotel reception and they could not care less. The hospital confirmed food poisoning and manged to stablise her after a full night in hospital it was extremely stressful and terrifying seeing her lke this. I checked out the next day and explained to reception on check out my daughter had food poisoning and was extremely unwell due to the lack of cleanliness and food hygiene - the reception did not offer an apology and just replied " OK - no problem". After my return to UK I emailed the hotel manager to ask for an explanation to why the hotel was so unsanitary, I explained I would liek to give them the opportunity to reply before I went public with my review. I have had no reply or apology. Now home my daughter is still not well 4 days later and is attending hospital today. I cannot stress enough for any families looking to travel abroad please choose any hotel other than this one. It is not safe and any other hotel would be better. I look forward to seeing the reply to this review from hotel as I have seen others where all they do is say thank you for your review and we will take your advice onboard. I am currently contacting the health and food hygiene authorities in spain to carry out an investigation into this hotel as I feel it is the only way I can help other families not get sick children. DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL!!!!

We are sincerely sorry to read that your daughter became ill during your stay. However, we would like to reassure you regarding our hygiene procedures and point out that our. the hotel, like any other hotel in our company, undergoes regular internal and external controls on food safety and adheres to the strict rules on food processing, handling and preservation. In no case would we put the health of our guests at risk by offering food not fit for consumption. From the public relation of the hotel we can affirm with all our sincerity that all the hygienic-sanitary protocols in force have been reviewed and no indication of this type of contamination has been found in our food. No incidents with other customers have been reported on the dates of this event. Unfortunately, at this time of year you can have small outbreaks of gastroenteritis and we do everything possible to prevent the spread of it by encouraging our customers to use the hand sanitizer wash dispensers in our dining rooms and to be respectful when picking up food on our buffet displays, forcing the use of the corresponding utensils and not your hands. However, it is sad to inform you that not all customers are aware of this, despite the signs that clearly request not to do so. Cordially,

Rooms are large and comfortable but could do with a kettle. Nice large pool. Breakfast wasn't till 8 am which is very late if you want to get out early on a day trip. They charge €15 per night for parking in the hotel car park which is just unbelievable. Never heard of such a high charge anywhere else! There is parking on the street but most of the time all the spaces near the hotel are full, so had to walk 5 minutes.

Food was very average. It has a school cafeteria vibe about it, everything feels a little on the cheap side. Unfortunately a number of the dishes were regularly over-cooked which was a real shame..dry fish, mushy pasta, soggy veg etc. There were a few lovely dishes but you had to move fast to get some as they went quickly. The grounds were good, lovely setting. It looks pretty. Not a lot in the local area but we were looking for a quiet break so it suited us. Rooms could do with a spruce up. Few broken bits here and there but nothing major. The room could do with a bit of a re-think for utilities. Kettle but no cups or tea bag (you can’t seem to get milk either). Sink but no cutlery. Cooker fan/extractor but no cooker. They should give you the proper facilities or not. Reception wait times were a painful. Check in, ordering a taxi, getting a replacement key after I locked myself out. Twenty minutes or so for each. There seemed to be lots of staff behind the counter but only one seeing to customers. I thought that odd as they could clearly see a queue of waiting people. That’s just poor customer service. Pool area was really nice. Really large area for the smaller children to play in which was great. No sun-bed wars apart from the Saturday. There was a huge influx of people poolside Saturday, we ended up sitting on a towel on the grass. Not a major deal for us but not really sure where all the extra people came from. Staff was mostly really pleasant. Happy, chatty, helped if the could. A few grumps but that’s normal. In summary it’s clearly a three star that has seen better day.

Hotel is ok but a few annoying points. Reception staff are not friendly and do not give accurate information, e.g. told us breakfast is open 8.30am when actually its 7am. Probably trying to schedule guests but didnt give us a choice or tell us that. They charge 2 euro each per day for towels, go buy youre own, its cheaper. Seem to be no staff around, outside pool area is not clean, dust and dirt on beds and tables, we had to clean ours wuth wet wipes. They allow people off the street to use the pool area. 3 days the piol was overcrowded with no beds left and some guests have to lay towels on grass. The pool was overcrowded with kids. Two different couples told us they were not residents and paid to use the pool. When I asked reception they said its residents only so either soneone is pocketing the cash or not being honest. Nevertheless, it is misrepresentation as the hotel advertises as tranquil which clearly it is not. On our first night we saw coach loads of school kids checking in. They speead the kids out all over the hotel and it was absolute bedlem all night. We had to call down to receotion 3 times. No apology from hotel staff for disruption. They also have a parking garage and we were told it was 10 euro per night, when we came to use the garage the cost all of a sudden increased to 15 euros! The breakfast is nothing to write home about, very basic, no customer service etc. The rooms are ok but could do with a higher standard of cleaning, our balcony had bird poop all over it with no attempt to clean it, as by the look of it, other balconies were the same. Wouldnt stay here again, not the hotel we thought we were going to and certainly not 4 star. Staff and quality dissappointing.

In Bonalba we strongly believe that there is always room for improvement and your comments will assist our team in their continuous efforts aimed at meeting our guests' expectations, therefore we greatly appreciate the time you took out of your day to share your constructive critics. We are very sorry to read that you were not informed before your arrival at our hotel that the cost of the towel is for cleaning them and to raise awareness among clients to participate in the environment and the cost of the parking. Thank you for informing us that apparently some people who are not guests of the hotel would have enjoyed our pool, we have to explain that the hotel does not accept anyone who is not staying at the hotel to enjoy our pool, and there is no entrance fee to pay In our hotel, that is the golf pool that has an entrance fee.Regarding the occupancy of the hammocks, we are very sorry to read that some hammocks were missing, due to the high season we cannot guarantee the hammocks or reserve them. We sincerely lament reading that your stay was not as pleasant as it should have been and we would be very pleased to welcome you again in the future ensuring you in advance of our utmost commitment to make your next Bonalba holiday experience an unforgettable one for all the right reasons.
