So great to have found this place and reserved 3 nights. I ended up extending because it was such a beautiful venue to be at peace, eat great morning breakfasts prepared by owner, and enjoy the local restaurant with beautiful sunset over the lake. room was super clean and nicely decorated, I felt like a guest at a friend's house. Thanks so much!

We have fallen in love with this wonderful accommodation, we will definitely come back. We are often exposed to stress in everyday life and just wanted to relax and concentrate on the essentials. Galicia and the Casa da Cabaza helped us a lot. To be honest, we left a bit wistfully, I still miss this fantastic breakfast with local products and a lot of homemade food. We were welcomed more than friendly and felt super comfortable at all times. Nature lovers will love Galicia and the Casa da Cabaza!

This is a beautiful retreat, in a perfectly peaceful landscape. Lovely hosts, great food. The rooms ooze charm and are very comfortable. Lots of opportunities to walk and explore the local area. You really are surrounded by stunning countryside.

Best of all: the environment far from mass visitors, the excellent treatment and service, and the fantastic beakfasts on the terrace. Unbeatable for walks in the countryside away from the crowd. Perfect if you want to rest and get away from the busy city life

I have travelled all over Spain and this is not your typical Spanish accomodation. The rooms and the courtyard are rustic and beautifully done. The breakfast was amazing. Healthy, varied and with local products, sometimes out of their own garden. Tariq and Siets are very welcoming and kind hosts, who can give you a lot of tips about where to go and what to do.

I am a writer and for me the location with the nice views, birds and quietness was very inspiring. I went for walks around the lake and even had a few swims (however there wasn´t as much water in the lake as usual). I also visited Lugo and the thermal baths in Ourense and got the Camino de Santiago feeling in Sarria.

Definitely recommended if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life!

We had decided to visit Galicia and had spent four nights on the coast before arriving at Casa de Cabaza. The place is so tranquil, our bed room was lovely and comfortable and also spacious with views from the window over the field where the two horses owned by the Sietske and Tariq were stabled. We would often sit here on an evening with a glass of wine and watch the sun setting. Both Sietske and Tariq were excellent hosts, very friendly and knowledgable about the area and gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. The breakfasts prepared by Sietske in the relaxing dining room were simply gorgeous. The location of Casa de Cabaza allows you to visit some great nearby places and return to what is a blissfully peaceful and relaxing place.

Casa de Cabaza is absolutely wonderful. We spent a month in Spain, and our stay here was the biggest hit. It’s a unique experience, so perhaps not for everyone, but those looking for a chic but rustic experience off the beaten track won’t be disappointed. The B&B is a lovely converted farmhouse on the edge of a serene lake (with a long walking trail around it). There are farms adjacent to the property, so there are often animals grazing here and there, and the owners have two beautiful horses. The rooms are comfortable and perfectly quiet (no TVs!—hence, no noise at all from next door!). Breakfasts are superb—freshly baked bread, homemade jams, good cereals and fruit, and “overnight-oatmeal.” We had a vegetarian dinner here, too, which was delicious (it was also so plentiful that we made a picnic meal out of the leftovers the next day).

The location is remote, which we loved, but it’s also not far to some of inland Galicia’s best sights. It’s only 20 minutes to Monfort, which is a bustling, interesting town. The information office in Monfort is terrific—they’ll book winery tours and other things for you (be sure to go there right away, in advance of any such visits). 40 minutes gets you to the Rio Sil, which is one of the most wild and beautiful wine regions we’ve ever seen (not to mention that the wines are brilliantly crafted, especially the reds—we highly recommend Adega Algueira for English-speakers). 40 minutes will also get you to the Rio Minho, where you’ll find excellent albarinos and albarino/godejo blends. We also recommend the Eco-Museum near the Minho, which offers informative guided tours about the history of the region.

The most wonderful thing about the B&B, though, is Siets. She’s a lovely, lovely person. She’s thoughtful and kind, and makes you feel well taken care of. She respects your privacy, too, but if you catch her at the right time and have a long talk you’ll feel you’ve made a friend for life. She and Tariq were brilliant hosts, and we wanted to stay on longer largely just to have the chance to spend time with them.

Altogether, this was one of our best B&B experiences anywhere!

The website for Casa da Cabalza gives an in depth description of the property and what to expect on arriving to this paradise.
On arrival I had a warm welcome from the owner along with a few friendly furry animals.
My apartment for the next three days was beautifully decorated and stocked and had everything I could need on hand.
Out my window I had a lovely view of the horses and scenic landscape . There is a nice little table on the porch for coffee or to read a book.
The lake is just down the street and the rest of beautiful galacia is at your doorstep !
I would stay here again in a millisecond.

Casa da Cabaza is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, great for walking, running and cycling with the added bonus of many local largely traffic-free routes. The perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday modern life, to reconnect with nature and regain perspective amongst peaceful, refreshingly tranquil surrounds. Such a warm welcome from lovely hosts and their furry family, I'll certainly be back!

Our stay was blissful and exquisitely serene. Casa da Cabaza is a truly beautiful and characteristic Galician bed and breakfast passionately cared for by its owners Sietske and Tariq. Two wonderful and dedicated hosts who absolutely enhanced our gorgeous gentle stay. All the environs, both internal and external are organised for a comfortable and relaxing retreat. Breakfast is a luxurious, healthy and abundant welcome to the day lovingly and freshly prepared daily by Siets; home-made organic long ferment sourdough bread, organic fruit, cereal, yoghurt, coffee and home-made sweet treats. Delightful. The location affords easy access to this beautiful area of Galicia. Casa da Cabaza is a wonderful escape from the busy-ness of life; we cannot recommend it enough, you will love it. Thank you Siets and Tariq. See you again Fabrizio and Michela
