We spent 4 nights in Fuerte. Great location, a short walk to El Rompido village. The staff were very lovely and helpful, especially the reception staff. The room was good size, even the door handle broke down the reception staff arranged straightaway a maintenance to fix it. The breakfast buffet was very good. The pool areas were clean, no problems to find a free sun lounge. The reception staff gives our ferry tickets to the beach, which we did couple of times - would highly recommend this.

Just spent 3 nights at this hotel celebrating my nephews wedding. Large well appointed hotel, clean with very large king sized beds and a choice of pillows. Although this hotel mainly catered for its home market all the staff were friendly and helpful always greeting us with a smile and a hello. The free wi-fi was great and the free tickets for the ferry to the beach welcome. All in all a very comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed here for 5 nights in 2 double interconnected rooms, ideal for families with teenagers. The room was great we had a lovely view at the back of the hotel overlooking a golf course with trees, very peaceful. The room was clean, beds were huge & comfortable. Bathroom was also big & had a bath. The only thing missing from the room was a tea/coffee making facility. Staff were excellent, always very friendly and helpful. Pools were great, it was nice to have an adult only pool as it was quieter than the other pools. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful, very well kept. The hotel is also in a great location, about a 5min walk from El Rompido, lots of nice restaurants there too. The food in the hotel was amazing although the trolleys were very loud and disturbed the ambience. The breakfasts always had a huge variety of everything. I would advise people to go to breakfast/dinner during the off-peak times as it’s much quieter. Dinner was very good, lots of fish - sardines, mussels, crab, squid, also chicken, pork, burgers, steak. The starters & desserts were generally the same most days, one recommendation would be more variety for desserts. However, you must pay extra for parking in the hotel €5 per day and €3 per day for the safe. Water was expensive (€2.40) but all the other drinks were reasonable - loved the cocktails. The hotel was good value for money considering all the facilities, nice rooms and delicious food. We went in July and there were a lot of young kids. Overall a great stay in Hotel Fuerte El Rompido, would definitely return and recommend to people.

Date of stay: 11 – 18 June 2019: Room 2043. We booked the hotel independently because the hotel offers free transfers from Faro and Seville airports. Bear in mind you may have some waiting around for other arrivals on different flights. Travelling to our hotel there were six of us and we had to wait three-quarters of an hour for the other guests to arrive. The staff are generally very friendly and offer you a welcome drink on arrival. On our return trip it was just us two. Also worth noting, each guest is allocated two return boat trips per week to the sandbar opposite. Here you have the opportunity to sunbathe or walk for miles in either direction. The main advantage to this hotel is its stunning grounds and location. There are three outdoor pools, one of which is adults only, and an indoor one, which we tried and found to be quite cold and filled with screaming kids. Most other British guests are with Saga or Just You and during the weekends lots of Spanish families fill the hotel up. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We were based on half board and whilst the breakfasts were fairly good and included many types of milk to have with an excellent choice of cereals, sadly the evening meals were let down badly by the hot selections. If you prefer salads, which we do, then you’ll have little to complain about. The choice was excellent and always plenty of good fish such as tuna or mackerel. The hot vegetables, of which none appear to be fresh, were presented in rather strange casserole containers with glass lids (what do you do with the glass lid when you’ve removed it?); very odd way of presenting hotel food, catering for large numbers. Generally the choice of hot food was very poor, hence my reason for not giving this hotel five stars. Another lack at both breakfast and dinner was the range of prepared fresh fruit on offer. The entertainment was also very average, not that it necessarily bothered us. However, the drink measures were always generous and service wasn’t too slow. Despite my few negative comments, if we wanted to visit this area again, we wouldn’t hesitate in booking this hotel. As I believe strongly that positive or negative feedback is very important when choosing a holiday, if you’ve found my review helpful, please could you leave me a helpful vote.

The hotel is clean, staff are mostly friendly, and we have enjoyed the breakfast buffet. But I cannot understand why the mini club/ mini disco is only on Friday and Saturday. We booked this hotel on the basis there is a mini club and disco as our 3 year old daughter loves discos on holiday. Sadly she has been disappointed as it is only on twice a week, seemingly when there are more Spanish guests in the hotel. Secondly, the kiosk by the pool (the only place one can purchase ice creams) is also only open Friday - Sunday. Again, this is most inconvenient. Particularly as our 3 year old also enjoys ice creams on her holiday and cannot understand why sometimes the shop is open, and sometimes it is not. From a business point of view I find it baffling that you do not open the kiosk 7 days a week as you are losing out on custom. Thirdly, the Dos Faros restaurant has been shut for the majority of our stay. Seemingly you also brought children in and held games for them at the pool one day during our stay, purely for the benefit of cameras filming some sort of video. These were clearly not paying hotel guests, and no such activities have been available for children on any other day before or since the camera crew was here. You are therefore deliberately misleading people. I would not recommend this hotel as you do not live up to the description of facilities available and fall short of what I expect from a family friendly hotel.

Dear TillyPea, It has been a pleasure to have you during your vacation at our hotel and we want to thank you for the time you have spent in sharing your opinion in the traveling community of Tripadvisor. The hotel has different establishments as our pool kiosk is open from Friday to Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We also have at your disposal our Bar-Cafeteria Noble Bar with a schedule from 5:30 p.m to 00:30 a.m every day, where you can access directly from the pool. The restaurant DosFaros,, whose hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m, which also has a cafeteria service and its opening was on Friday of the week you were staying, that's why you never saw it open before. If it is true that regarding the activities of animation, not being high season, the number of activities for children is lower because they are still in school and it is not usual that there are children in our facilities during the week. We really sorry that the services offered have not been to your liking. We work constantly to give the best service to our guests, so we take note of your suggestion and we will transfer it to the departmental head.but. All comments from our guests are very important to us, as they help us achieve excellence in our services. I hope to welcome you back to Hotel Fuerte El Rompido in the future and give you a stay of 10! Your sincerely, Mariló Acevedo Customer Service Department Fuerte El Rompido Hotel
