Valamar Camping Lanterna is celebrated for its outstanding service, with many guests commending the staff's friendliness and meticulous attention to cleanliness. While the resort's amenities, including well-maintained pools and a variety of activities, especially for children, are often cited as providing excellent value, some guests note the atmosphere can be boisterous, with loud music playing into the night. The rooms are praised for their cleanliness and views, though some accommodations near Laterna 9 receive mixed reviews. Despite occasional noise, the overall cleanliness and family-friendly environment make it a popular choice.

How can you evaluate this reasonably? The campsite is really mega. Just for that I would actually give 5*.
The facility is huge and there is an operation for every taste. Wifi is very good everywhere. Comfort pitch under the trees is super shaded. Water and electricity included.

But what really annoys are the prices of children's items and treats. A Magnum 6,50€ at the pool bar I find really cheeky and children are just ripped off there. At the beach the Magnum costs only 5,50€ 😂.
Coke 0,5l - 5,50€, beer 4,70€, Nutella in the supermarket 8€. Ice slush 0,3l (water with dye and aroma) 5,50€. You might think children aren't welcome.
At sports field a still water costs 0.5l - 3€.

The supermarket itself on the square is very well sorted and the prices ok (t-bone 20€/kg, butter 3,50€, milk 1,50€/). Bread is cheap in the supermarket.

Spread throughout the square there are bakeries offering fresh baked goods from 7:00 (buns 1.10, croissant 1.70€).

Very clean and in very good condition are the sanitary facilities. They are also permanently cleaned.

Having driven for almost 4 days from England to Croatia we were excited to finally arrive at our destination. However, once we had checked in and arrived at our designated pitches we were dismayed that both pitches were in the full glaring sun (absolutely no shade). Additionally, one of the pitches which was for a tent was like a gravelly car park and in no way suitable to pitch a tent.

After a trip back to reception, the staff were really understanding and were able to accommodate a move to 2 shaded pitches which were perfectly situated close to the toilet & shower block.

The amenities for kids (we had 3 teenagers travelling with us) were great and the choice of supermarkets and restaurants/bars was fantastic. The staff at Belvedere were fantastic!

Overall the site was too large for us and very noisy (despite the 12am - 7am quiet time). Croatia was beautiful but I wouldn't come back to Lanterna.

The campsite is huge very many running trails, unfortunately as far as fun for the children and snacks / ice cream are concerned extra cost to pay . The supermarket on site is very expensive, cheaper to get outside the campsite to the public supermarket.
Our accommodation mobile home was well spacious but with the cleanliness air up everything is kept very superficially clean. Floors were dirty just like the shower silicone joint covered with mold, even the seat gantry door inside was dirty from its predecessors. These could have been peeled off and cleaned. Even under the bed were old shockoladen remains to be found. The campsite apparently sells mobile homes to different providers / allcamps / luxcamp these run through homair on site! In conclusion, the campsite is very nice on its own, but I would first know which provider provides better offers and services, we booked through Luxcamp and well we were disappointed by the cleanliness of our mobile home 😞

We paid about 10 € per day for the dog. For such an amount of money, I expect something. However, the two beaches for a dog are awfully small, no shadow. On the whole camping site there are only two places where you can get dog fouling bags and we had to walk for over 1km to get to the dog showers. I don't know what we paid the money for!!!

We had booked a Luxury Mare pitch at the Lanterna Premium Camping Resort. We were allocated a spot in the first row in area A. Our pitch had a tree in the middle. We couldn't really park our caravan (the length was known to reception) in a sensible way, but thanks to the mover we were able to position it at 90° to the sea. Not ideal but possible. The pitch was completely shaded, water and power connections were on the pitch after next, so quite far away. The view of the sea was still fantastically beautiful. There was relatively little going on in the bay in front of our pitch. The water was clean and clear. For a pitch that costs over 100 euros per night, however, it was rather disappointing. There were no alternative pitches available.

Shortly after we arrived, an employee drove up on an electric scooter and kindly asked me to come back to reception in the next 40 minutes. They miscalculated. It took 45 minutes there because we had to pay an additional 3.40 euros...
The sanitary facilities and cleanliness were fine. There were constant service staff on site during the day, but we have seen cleaner and better sanitary facilities at 5-star places.
The Lighthouse Festival started on Wednesday in the neighboring resort Tamaris, which belongs to the Valamar. 24 hours of non-stop house music! On the first day the volume was still OK. At 11 p.m. it got quieter and at 6 a.m. it started again. Loud bass could be heard throughout the day. The volume and duration in the evening increased from day to day. During the night from Friday to Saturday the music played non-stop. Sleeping was out of the question. Great when you have to drive all day the next day...
We complained to reception when we checked out. The answer: next weekend is the next festival and it will be much louder...!

Lanterna premium camping

Overcrowded, way to expensive , poor control of booking if any at all

We booked in may, we told them we ware 9 m long and asked if they had a pitch where there was enough space for our camper, NO PROBLEM they told us. We have big pitches.
When we arrived, there was NO pitches for us, even though we booked in may.
After over 1 hour they found a pitch for us, we tried to find it, that’s was very difficult, asked several employees, but no help there ,..
Finely after a driving back and forward with a 9 m long camper , and no please to turn , we found it.
The pitch was up hill and it was quit difficult to get the camper there.
Located by the supermarket , lot of noice, kids peeing in the bushes , kids playing loud music.

The power went 20 minutes after we arrived. And came back after 5-6 hours after.
The wi-fi was gone for over 2 days, only the staffs wi-fi was working, and that one was locked.

The camping is so so Big, and over crowded, no place at the pool ore at the beach. Everything cost, the beach has lot of stones so it’s difficult to get in the water, the stones are so slippery that people and children slips and falls
The only beach that’s has sand, is so overcrowded, that you can’t find a place to sit. And if you do, and go in the water, your stuff is gone when you get back.

They are so fixated on money, that they give People pitches on parking lot ,the caravans is so close together, that if something happens, you can’t escape ore get out.
The supermarket has very small choices of fresh food (meat) we waited for 3 days , finely a bit came, but it was sold out very fast… as they want you to use the Restaurants instead of making your own food.

There is a constant driving with bicycles, scooters, etc. at a very high speed, so it is dangerous to have small children and dogs on the paths by the water

We had so looked forward to come back. But after being at Lanterna now, we won’t come back again.

Dear Lauritzen, We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such detailed feedback about your stay. I am very sorry to hear that several things throughout your stay did not meet your expectations. All your comments are essential to educating our staff about good and bad service. We will ensure your feedback will be given to all. Please allow me to refer to your comment. Regarding wifi, there was a malfunction on an optic cable in the outer area of the campsite that affected the entire peninsula and the neighbouring areas. The issue was resolved on the same day. Our campsite is located in a very vibrant area with something for everyone, which is one of the reasons why guests like to spend their holidays at this location. We are sorry to hear your experience was not a pleasurable one. Warm regards, Danijela Zgrablić Camping Manager

Excessive price for data services: €1396.00 10 days in luxury seaside pitch, including only water, electricity, toilets, camper service (grey water drainage, chemical toilet) wifi (which also didn't work well) and sea water ( which is free for everyone), in short what a camper stop area gives you. Practically everything else for a fee: train, sports activities, laundry, water park on the sea, deckchairs and umbrellas, delivery.
The pitch is close to the sea but it is not specified that to get there you have to climb about fifty steps, steep ones at that, or 200 meters if like us you had a beach cart with your 4 year old, and you necessarily have to climb the ramps.
The sea view from the pitch is limited by plants and only glimpses can be seen.
The pitch is downhill with the surface which had not been cleaned before our arrival, among other things it rained for 3 days and all the water from the streets above reached the pitch.
We were attached to the restaurant and the V sports park so there was noise from 6am until 10pm.
The only positive note is the cleanliness of the toilets, really compliments to the staff who kept the bathroom area clean.

We have rented through a partner a beautiful safari tent with 2 bedrooms with air conditioning. We paid a good € 2750 for this for 14 nights. A substantial amount for us that we expected a lot in return. Unfortunately, this was not enough. We were in a place where a lot of hard traffic in the form of cars, campers, quats, and immensely many electric steps (with many minors) drove by extremely fast. The policy at the campsite should really be tightened for this. the prices of restaurants are very high as an example you pay € 6.5 for a magnum ice cream! Sunbeds you have to pay for, at the crowded pool € 15 and at the beach even € 25. So own towel. Although the location is really beautiful, the beach is both pebble and sand of miles full of people. The plumbing is kept up all day but is no doing due to the immense crowds. We bought a lot through the good supermarkets and cooked ourselves. Unfortunately we never go here again in high season.

We had the best time at Laterna Camping Resort. My husband and I travelled with our 4 year old daughter. The site is perfect for families including a kids club, playgrounds, multiple pools, shops, and easily accessible sandy and pebble beaches. Our daughter loved it and we did too.

The site is really well cared for and we loved the village feel with multiple restaurants, bars and cafes.

We stayed in a Eurocamp lodge which was immaculately clean and the reps were friendly and helpful.

We hired a car but barely used it as there was so much to see and do at the site, and there was a regular boat to Novigrad.

We highly recommend the daily boat to Novigrad which can be caught at the sandy beach and is reasonably priced (7 euros one way). It's a really pretty coastal town.

There are a few negative comments on here which we can't understand and some are misinformation e.g. that there are steep steps to the beach: this is incorrect, whilst one way of accessing the beach is via steps, the beach is also easily accessible via a gentle ramp which makes it great if taking pushchairs. The beach was beautifully clean and the sea was warm and clear.

We highly recommend holidaying at Laterna, we are booking to stay again next year!

Not even worth a star!

This summer we went on holiday to Croatia for the first time and unfortunately stayed at this camping resort. We booked through a tour operator with V... and ended up in Happy Camp. Unfortunately, the name doesn't reflect the program. When we checked in, the operator with V... sent us to the Happy Camp check-in and had to stick to the opening times of 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Unfortunately, not fun in the rain with children. When we finally found the house J2SZ, we had to air the house at around 8 p.m. in the rain. There was no sign of cleanliness and the smell was very bad. The beds are folding beds with 10 cm mattresses, some of which were even missing a few slats. We went to bed totally tired and exhausted. The following day I called the number we knew and asked for the spare key and complained about the cleanliness. The colleague wanted to take care of it, but unfortunately didn't manage to do it before we left.
At the end of our stay we made another complaint. The answer we received was. That we should report the complaint in writing, WhatsApp or SMS and the dirt is camping.

About the resort itself:
If you like a pool with 22°C and Italian food, as well as fries with burgers or hot dogs, this camping resort is a good choice. The paths are very long, so a bike is not a bad idea. Parking spaces on the beaches are limited. If you have/use a stroller, you should look out for the wheelchair sign when booking and you would almost even avoid Area J with it.

Prices in 2023 were between the restaurant and the fairground. Food is OK at the table and very small to go. Drinks are more like fairground prices.

About the sea!
It is unforgettably blue/turquoise and clean! No jellyfish, lots of fish.
