3 tired bikers in need of good food after a long day in the road. Staying at the Belgrave Arms and decided to have an evening meal. To say the food was delicious is an understatement. Home made food, plenty of it and so so taste. I had steak that melted in the mouth while friends had steak pie. Honestly, if you are in the area try their food. ps sorry no photo, had eaten it before even thinking to review.
Stayed at the Belgrave Arms with my brother on Friday 14th of August on our North coast 500 motorcycle trip . The staff were very welcoming, we had a fabulous evening meal and Craig the landlord was absolutely brilliant. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I was short of fuel and Craig had some spare in a large fuel container which he offered to me and then wouldn’t even take payment for it . Next time we are up that way we will definitely be staying there again. A big thank you to Craig and all the staff . Mal & Phil St.Helens
I know that we are living through difficult times and no more so if you are working in hospitality, but I hadn’t expected to be greeted by muffled swearing at my enquiry whether it would be possible to have a coffee or tea. None was available until 12 noon (it was 11.20am...) and that was that.
Visited hotel looking for late breakfast or mid-morning coffee. Welcome was an expletive and no service before 12 for passing trade! What a shame as a beautiful day in Helmsdale. We then went down the road elsewhere.
I knew about the shared bathroom, but I expected it to be clean! The underside of the rubber shower mat was black with grime, as was the grouting where it had cracked - extremely unhygienic. Advertises free wi-fi but not available in rooms, only public areas. No guest information book in my room, and my friend had to boil the kettle on the floor in her room because the cord wasn’t long enough. She had an old mattress where she felt every spring and both rooms were badly in need of new pillows - option of a hard pancake or a heavy lumpy, very old pillow. I have stayed in less expensive hotels but with far superior cleanliness and facilities. Not a nice experience.
