After a dreary day of motorbiking we headed for Breamar(Balmoral etc.) On the road to Spittal of Glenshea we saw the sign for the castel hotel en thought YES! just lets go there. After al it was nearly six o'clock already. The nearly 2 km of entrance road is not very good and forces you to drive slowly. The reward... More

My wife and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had booked a double room but we were upgraded to a beautiful 3rd story room which my wife could only describe as a Royal room! It was absolutely lovely. We booked in for the five course menu, we were of course offered the... More

I recently got married at the neighboring (self catering) Forter Castle and was in search of something special for my Wedding Breakfast. Dalmunzie Castle was perfect and helped to make our big day truly special. Not living anywhere near Scotland we started planning the Wedding Breakfast a good few months in advance and the staff at Dalmunzie were very supportive... More

The area, grounds and scenery of this hotel are amazing. If you are looking for quiet and serene, you've found it. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly, attentive and very helpful. Our room was large for normal standards, however we were not expecting two twins. In addition, the beds were awful. In the restaurant you had two... More

To be clear, no matter how this hotel is marketed, it is not a 16th century castle. Yes, it is located on an estate that was first settled in the 16th century, but if you piece together the convoluted history that is presented in the very back of the guest book in the room, you will realize that the entire... We loved our stay at this castle. The surrounds are beautiful and quiet. Adding to the beauty was unexpected snow. The hotel was warm, relaxing, personal and just what we wanted - a quiet stay in remote Scotland. The four poster room was spacious and the shower was hot and had good pressure. We could sit in our room or... More

We have been to the hotel before under different ownership, so we were looking forward to returning. Couldn't have had a better time. Unlike previous reviews the hotel is very warm and welcoming, with spectacular views. The food is even better than before, Michelin class, which we could find no fault with. We had the Birkmyre room again, and it... More

An overnight birthday treat while walking the Cateran Trail. Upgraded to four-poster luxury. Decanters of sherry and whisky, special Arran Aromatics bath salts, balms and soaps, fluffy robes - the full works. Very attentive, well-trained but relaxed service. Michelin-star winning chef (?) provided a superb dinner with amuse-bouche, palate-cleanser and other delightful extras. Leaning towards nouvelle cuisine. And dessert in... More
