Had a one night stay in this hotel and found it to be very comfortable. Hotel is an imposing building and as others have mentioned quite a rabbit warren of rooms and corridors, although the signposting is good. Decor and general condition of rooms, corridors, bars and lounges is of a good standard. Our room was 217 and was a... More

I could not fault the service, both in the evening for Dinner in the Bar, or at breakfast, which was freshly cooked to order. The rooms were spacious, clean and with everything in working order. I should happily stay over here again, as this hotel surpasses most I have stayed at in the last ten years whilst travelling for business... More

It always was a beautiful place. It has had several internal changes of style and decor ...and management...over the past 50 years. Yes, I went there that long ago. Right now it us going through a bright, light and "modern" phase...and the food is a victim. Don't get me wrong, there was absolutely nothing with what was on our plates, but... More

A lovely rambling old building that looked as it does in the autumnal picture on my November visit. Nice clean comfortable spacious rooms. A bit of a warren and easy to get slightly lost but in a nice way. Lovely traditional decor with paintings and murals gracing the walls. Log fire burning in the lounge with a slightly incongruous modern... More

The hotel looked a picture when we arrived but couldn't check in till after 4pm as the room wasn't ready. The room however was very lovely, huge bed, bathroom with bath and shower and all the extras required. The hotel is actually bigger than it first appears but is like a warren of corridors so you hardly ever saw anyone... More

We love the Whitby area and when I received a Macdonald hotel voucher as a gift, we were so pleased to find a hotel in the Whitby area. A booking was made for three night stay. We were made welcome on arrival and were very pleased to be told our bedroom had been upgraded to a room with a four... More

Went to a dinner dance at Gisborough Hall organised by a private group & booked to stay overnight. We had the Admiral's Room in the main house which, to say the least, was quirky! Themed decor of a Nautical nature hence the name of the room. Lovely big bathroom with bath & separate power shower. Quirky stairs up to a... More

We have stayed at this hotel several times and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly, the service is good and rooms are very nice. They have a vegetarian menu as well as the regular one and the food is excellent. I just wish they had a swimming pool.

It was recommended to stay here by a work employee as near by hotels where not to a great standard. Although my colleague had never stayed here he had heard some good reviews about the hotel, so I decided to stay for one night while on business. I will never stay here again. The room was filthy, the bed sheets... More
