As a weekend treat, my partner and I decided to go to Whitby as neither of us had been there before. I looked on the internet and found Whitby booked out so booked in here as it was relatively local and the town of Guisborough sounded nice. After an afternoon in Whitby we drove to the Fox and Hounds which... More

We read other peoples reviews and decided to give this place a go. It was dated but at the end of the day it is clean friendly and fairly priced. The food in the restaurant was very good indeed and i would go there again with no hesitation.

I last stayed here two years ago and not much has changed. The banister rail up to the first floor wobbled then, and it still wobbles now. Is it clean, but just cries out for a makeover from top to bottom. The beers are okay and the food is about average. In summary if you can't find anywhere else you... More

Called in for lunchtime carvery at £5.99 per person which proved to be good value for money. Choice of two meats, Yorkshire puddings and a variety of vegetables. A range of other meals, including vegetarian options, are on the menu but prices on the expensive side compared to other pubs in the area. The staff were pleasant and friendly but... More

We stayed one night here and found the staff very helpful and pleasant, the room was ok, though the bed on my side was not good, sagged a bit so kept ending up halfway down the bed, so not a good night sleep. The breakfast was fine. Probably wouldn't stay again though.

Where do I start Right the advert says cosy hotel with a good selection of cask ales and fine wine NOT TRUE The room was clean but very dated As for the noise you could hear every footsteps for the creaky floor boards and sadly heard every conversation in the rooms either side (I will leave that one to your... We have stayed at this place a few times but nothing changes. It's the same decor from when we visited over 15 years ago. It's old , tired threadbear and paper peeling off some of the walls in the bedroom. We usually stay here when there is no where else. The food and staff in the restaurant leave a lot... More

I visited on a Sunday, with a friend, and I opted for the carver. My friend enquired about an alternative and was shown a menu. He chose a parmesan. I was advised to wait until my friends paramo was freshly prepared. Therefore, the timing was perfect. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I will visit again and... More
