A large number of us visited for our annual Christmas lunch as usual. The carvery and service were excellent and so were the deserts. I chose the mushrooms as a starter and was very surprised as I was presented with a couple of chopped mushrooms only just warm on a bed of supposed to be Stilton sauce and three tiny... More

We arrived late and tired on foot on a walking tour in December to be faced with a problem over the booking - not what you want. However, once that was sorted everything was fine - nice, warm rooms, good food and friendly staff. Just make sure that the hotel has got your booking confirmed, what could be sorted in... More

Very good food. We have not eaten from the car very, so can not offer comment on that. We have eaten several times from the Menu, both in the restaurant and in the bar, and have without exception enjoyed what we have eaten immensely. We have also stayed the night, and found this to be good value, though the room... More

This was a business trip, arriving on a Sunday for just a 1 night stay. This is really a pub restaurant with rooms, so if you want to be pampered with luxury, and fawned over by obsequious staff, don't come here! What I did get was a large, clean, warm bedroom. Yes, the furniture is mature, and the TV was... More

This was a Sunday lunch family visit to the Fox and Hounds a very popular country pub near Gisborough. The staff were polite, friendly and effective, the food was very nice, if not a little stingy on the portions of delicious freshly cooked meats! But I must credit the F&H the meal was very lovely and pretty good value. I... More

We stayed here for one night in September. Whilst the reviews were not brilliant on Trip Advisor, everywhere else was full. The room was OK, not dirty but, my, I don't think it had been decorated for many, many years. burgundy, tired and dark. The floorboards were the creakiest ones I have ever come across. The whole building smells of... More

just passing through the area and decided to stop off for a bite to eat, the sun was shining and from the main road this place looked very pleasant. Looked at the menu and chose cod and haddock fishcake with curry sauce and hand cut chips from the two meals for £14 offer. We sat outside in the sun with... More

We stayed at this pub recently and found the staff extremely friendly and welcoming. The room (No 11) was cosy but very tired. The dressing table veneer had come off in places, there were dead light bulbs in the ceiling light, the washbasin had a very large crack in it and the remote control for the TV was missing. The... On arrival it seemed like an OK, standard sort of pub with a reasonable bar choice including 2 hand pulled ales. We were shown to our room, which was labelled the 'Bridal Suite' on our arrival documentation (no idea why we were given that!). The room itself was OK, basic amenities, the bathroom was enormous with a large corner bath... More
