Let's start with the reasons that you need to visit the Abbott's Fireside, and later we'll deal with the reasons why it might not be for everyone. Reason 1: If you love, "Olde Worlde", anything "Tudoresque", or you are an American tourist seeking an authentic taste of Old England, then you need to come and see this amazing building. A... More

We had a wonderful room up in the roof overlooking some beatific countryside. All beautiful wooden fittings and a nice modern bathroom with shower. Complimentary toiletries and tea coffee and biscuits were a nice touch too. The bed was so cosy that it was only the call of the delicious full English breakfast that got me out of the room!... THis 15th Century Inn nestles inthe Vale of Elham inth heart of Kent. it feels like its a milion miles from anywhere, but in fact you are only 20 minutes from Canterbury and 15 minutes from Dover! narrow country lanes abound, twisting and turning, with grass inthe iddle, yet always managing to deliver you to your destination! THe Abbots Firside... More

We spent two nights at this friendly & cosy hotel. The history of the inn can be found in a folder by the fireside, and directs you another treasure of the hotel. We ate there on a Saturday night. There was a good choice on the menu, which included 2 fish dishes for starters & mains. Desert wines were also... More

From the outside, this building is picture perfect. From the inside, it's quirky and quality. We stayed here overnight when walking the Elham Valley way, and it was a luxurious treat for tired feet. Our room was on the top floor which was up very creaky old staircases with low beams, creating a sense of occasion. Definitely mind your head!!... More

We were looking for a hotel near Folkestone and found this gem by accident. Our first impressions were confirmed when we entered what appeared to be an inn from the middle ages, to be greeted by the most efficient and friendliest staff. The rooms were tastefully appointed and reflected the age of the building with even floors that were not... More

Came here for dinner with a friend. Firstly - it was a nice surroundings. Nice bar and friendly staff. Bad stuff..... Only one beer on offer. Measley offering with regards to nibbles (3 pieces of bread for 2 of us) I chose the £26 beef fillet. The potato fondant was raw, and when I informed the waiter he just said... More

An historic house in a charming Kent village -the exterior and the downstairs restaurant could be used for a movie setting. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast generous and good. I stayed in the Cromwell room under the roof (accessible via a steep staircase), it is spacious, tastefully decorated, has a very comfy bed, and the beams/ uneven... More

Needed a hotel near the Channel crossings and this popped up as a very good value deal (unfortunately after booking it turned out there was an error somewhere and the actual price somewhat a lot higher). However, despite the price we decided to treat ourselves and as the owners gave us a discount due to the booking error we decided... More

Eccentric architecture, sloping floors, open fireplaces but with modern en-suite bathroom, a decent bed, and fine linens. There';s even the obligatory labrador lounging in a chair! Fine food, and attentive and skilled staff complete the picture. You couldn't ask for more!
