Lovely place - we often pop in for a drink, but were disappointed by the food when we came to eat here. We waited nearly 40 minutes for food to arrive. Portions were small - I had 'supreme of chicken' which was OK (chicken breast wrapped in parma ham), but it came with a tiny amount of mashed potato formed... More

Had to ask for ice to chill the wine. Risotto bland and not made with alborio rice starchy to taste and the only flavour provided by cheese and balsamic glaze. 2 veggie options both mushroom dishes please be more adventurous. Steak served medium rare asked for medium well and the surprise of the butcher string ! Lazy garnish of rocket... More

Stayed here one Saturday night. Checking in was a pleasant and welcoming experience, with the 'concierge' (barman) showing us up to our rooms. These were well appointed, with ensuite bathrooms with modern fittings. Once bags were dropped, we headed into the busy bar for a few drinks. The whole hotel is decorated with ancient weaponry, pennants, flags, paintings and suits... More

We visited last weekend for an evening meal. Having only booked on the evening as a party of 7 were told only availability was at 8pm. Our fault for booking so late. Got there to find literally one one other table sat down and only one more arrived after us! It was a lovely period property, I guess steeped in... More

This building has such great character that I can forgive it any faults. We always visit when we're in the Brixham area, and nearly always enjoy the visit. A selection of real ales is available. which is our most important criteria. The wine list is good. We did not eat on this occasion: in the past we have found some... More

We were greeted by friendly reception staff and shown to our room. The hotel makes much of its historic past and features and presumably had attempted to carry this theme into the newer bedrooms. Sadly this did not work as the room was too small to accommodate the imitation old four poster bed and also two adults. The en-suite can... More

I stayed here on business, probably an error in respect that it is clearly catering for the Holiday maker and short stay sea-side guest. I had to get the duty manager out of bed to check out at 7.35am, Breakfast is served 8am-10am and in truth I have done a days work by then normally. BUT this is what it... More

We attended a small but very enjoyable wedding reception at Churston Court and enjoyed not only excellent food and service but were also entertained by a murder mystery company during the evening. The bride was an Agatha Christie fan and apparently Churston Court was one of Agatha's regular haunts when living in Devon, and therefore it seemed appropriate to have... More

I've eaten here many times and I'm never disappointed. The food is great, especially the steaks. I've never had a better peppercorn sauce. The setting is beautiful, and the building is spectacular - worth a wonder round whilst there! I've also stayed over night, the rooms are brilliant, functional and clean.
