The staff and management of this hotel provide top quality excellent service, are extremely attentive (without being intrusive) and create a level of formality or personal atmosphere with which you are comfortable. Add to this the food.................. We always come away extremely relaxed feeling that we have been personnaly looked after and not been just another room number. In our...

We arrived on 13th December and despite the disastrous flooding the previous weekend and snow on the high ground there were no travel issues at all. The Hotel is extremely comfortable and food excellent and two minor issues with the room were solved with no drama nor disturbance. Certainly somewhere I would recommend, only slight downside being no dogs allowed...

Good of you to take the time to review - thank you. We do understand about no dogs in the hotel but nowadays there seem to be so many people with various allergies. In fact we get as many people ringing who are worried about dogs being around as we do for dog-friendly requests. We try and reach a happy...

This is a great hotel! The place itself is absolutely gorgeous. Lovely rooms and 2 reception rooms with open fire for you to choose to lounge in. The weather was awful when we were there so we did a lot of that! Very good wifi throughout the hotel also. The main thing is the service though. Tilly seemed to sense...

Many thanks for your kind review. Here at TSH we are all about efficient and friendly hospitality, and our staff always appreciate when guests notice this and comment on their professionalism. I’ve passed your comments on to Tilly and the rest of the team! The weather in Cumbria is notoriously unpredictable and many guests, like yourselves, while away rainy afternoons...

Once a year for over 40 years a group, most of which consists of friends who were medical students together meets for a reunion. We had the whole of this lovely hotel to ourselves. The owners saw to our every request and the meals superb. For our dinners we had more choices than in other hotels we have been to...

My wife and I were part of a group who used the hotel for a 2 night mid-week stay. The group was large enough to almost fill the rooms, and no one else was staying at the hotel. Paul and Julie and their staff gave us a warm welcome and were excellent throughout the stay. They were very attentive and...

A very pleasant stay in a very comfortable hotel that also offers a high quality menu. The one jarring factor for me was the way that drinks are labelled "small, or, friendly" A "friendly" serving is a double or a large wine. I do think that this puts a bit of subtle pressure on customers to drink more than they...

From the word go the proprietors and staff made you feel welcome even from our home during the booking process. This is most refreshing. On our arrival a tour of the place and an offer of refreshment set the tone of our stay in Temple Sowerby. We had a ground floor apartment in the Coach House which was ideal for...

We stayed here for one night to break a long journey. On arrival, Julie and her husband made us feel very welcome. Our room was in the coach house which was perfect as we had our dog with us. We stayed for 3 nights. The house and grounds are lovely, and the staff welcoming and friendly. We have stayed in other hotels at a similar price level and think this one compares badly. Dinner disappointing?!! We know that we cannot please all our guests all the time but there is a constant theme running through our reviews.
