The John Barleycorn is a great local pub with a simple but delicious menu. Classic burgers and pies through to lovely platters, fish dishes and the best steak salad outside Italy. The staff are attentive and charming and the buzzy atmosphere is created by happy punters. Prices are reasonable. My only slight criticism is that the charcuterie starter platter is...

Best staff ever, awesome food I mean unbelievably good food. On top of that great beer and fantastic service. We cannot recommend highly enough. And you can stay too! (which we did). That was fantastic too.

We visited here twice over the weekend as we travelled to and from Cambridge. I did used to visit here years ago when I lived in Cambridge over 22 years ago. The food was very tasty and we'll prepared. The staff friendly and very helpful. The pub delightful and full of character.

We stayed here for one night. I would rate it as excellent for friendliness of the staff, the quality of service and the food. For the room that we stayed in (room 3) I would rate it as poor - it was very small and poorly lit, there was a musty, damp smell and the room, especially the bathroom, was...

Charming traditional English country inn, with everything you would expect: a historical building, traditional well cooked English food, pub with real ale on cask, and friendly locals to chat with. Excellent service with just the right combination of friendliness and professionalism. Small rooms facing a garden so seasonal birdsong is included. So much character and feels so genuine that even...

Excellent service, nice and friendly. Felt really comfortable there although have had better meals elsewhere for a Sunday lunch. Quite a popular little pub by the looks of it. Didn't think we actually had enough meat on the plate as only had one slice of meat. It could have been hotter as well, but the company made the day.

I try and stay here now whenever I'm working near Duxford. The pub has a great history & character, really friendly and efficient staff, good service, excellent food and comfortable rooms. What more could I ask for?

You have to love a pub which announces outside "dogs and wellies welcome". They even put up with our kids. Lovely ambience, lovely food. And we saw a frog in the carpark on the way out. A wonderful evening.

We didn't book a table but the lovely waitress asked us to wait a few minutes while she arranged a table for us. The pub was really busy but had a nice vibe. We ordered food and we wasn't disappointed and the desert was absolutely amazing we were both full but we had to finish it!
