Having been born in Portsoy I was curuous to see what the big house looked like inside. I was not disappointed! The place oozes charm amd history. Huge bedroom (we were in the Silk Room) and the bathroom was bigger than most hotel bedrooms! Very comfy bed ! We had dinner there and although the choice is somewhat limited the... More

After an 11 mile hike from Cullen to Portsoy, I was really looking forward to a place to rest my tired feet. I never imagined we would be staying in such a grand inn! Oh My! When we arrived we were served tea, and then taken to our huge, beautiful room With a huge bathroom and windows all around! Oh... More

Fabulous Birthday Celebration - A dinner party with an overnight stay that has left wonderful memories. The organisation carried out by Louise Cowie – Events Manager was fantastic, very professional and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. All the rooms in the building are different and have a romantic old charm, antique furniture and exquisite wall papers; we took over... More

We booked a weekend away to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary early due to work and other commitments. As soon as we arrived we felt at home, as soon as we mentioned our name we were ushered to a side lounge where a log fire was lit. We were told our pre booked Afternoon Tea would be served soon and were... More

Mum and I stayed in Durn House for one night during June.Because we booked just the day before we were offered a substantial discount on the usual price which we appreciated. We were given the Tartan room which, although not en suite, does have its own private bathroom. We were both absolutely delighted and amazed by every aspect of our... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. I am really pleased that you enjoyed the beauty that is Durn House. Stayed for one night on a business trip to Banff. The house is striking from the outside, and once inside you're surrounded by beautiful antiques, portraits and open fires. The suite I stayed in had a 4 poster bed, stand alone bath and all sorts of old lovely ornaments. Dinner was a choice of several starters, main courses, deserts and... More

As you go through the gates to Durn house, you start to realise your in for a treat. Me and my partner spent two nights at Durn and honestly couldn't fault a thing. When we went in we were shown to a seat I front of the grand fire place which wasn't lit, but I was asked instantly if I... More

Beautiful old house on the eastern side of Portsoy. Our arrival confused us as they is no check in desk that we could see. A young lady (no name offered) gave us our room key. The place was eerily quiet and there was only one other room occupied. When we came back around 8 pm we met another man (owner/manager,... More

Stayed two nights in early May. Lovely house & room (Durn Suite - £230 a night) and good set dinner (at about £33 per person.) Our first reaction on arriving was delight! However, there were a few niggles that took the edge off our stay. The main gripe was about the fireplaces. I visited the Sitting Room several times on... More

We spent 2 nights in what can only be described as the most comfortable room ever experienced (the Durn Suite). Our son was also in another fabulous room - the Culloden Suite. Durn House calls itself a 4 star B & B, but in reality it is so much more. The welcome was fantastically friendly, the service was unbelievably good,... More
