Lunch was in a lovely "period-style" restaurant. The menu was different but very nice. No soup and sandwich deals or the like, but in a way that was good, as we chose something completely different. Service was excellent. Only down side is that there is not a lot of parking places.

We we reluctant to leave our dog in the car after such a long journey so the wonderful duty manager suggested that...

Visiting Durn House for a weekend away was a real treat. The house is charming, your chance to be Lairdess / Laird of the manor. The young team who looked after us were brilliant and really helped to make our stay. Food was great - we dined in both evenings. I would go back to eat there even if I...

Another fabulous meal at Durn House, it never disappoints. We went to their Steak Night last Friday and it was delicious, so much for your money and cooked perfectly. Wonderful place to relax and never rushed when eating and even moved to the drawing room to enjoy our wine in front of the fire and told to take our time....

Greeted warmly and offered tea by lovely warm log fire before heading to the Culloden room. This was a beautiful, restful space with great views over the countryside. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed every minute. We stayed in a room called Ferguson which had a really spacious bathroom with robes and excellent storage space. The staff at the Durn are particularly helpful and welcoming -something which comes across straight away. This Georgian house is located just outside Portsoy in its own grounds and close to a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Durn House nestles on a quiet country road, by a small stream, and within easy walking distance of the main street and Portsoy's famous 17th-c. Old Harbour. Durn House is an elegant Georgian Mansion House in its own grounds offering luxury accommodation in large rooms with luxury en-suites or private bathrooms at sensible rates. Warm hospitality, excellent service and sumptuous breakfasts await our guests. Steeped in history, Durn House was believed to have been built in the Adams style by Sir James Dunbar of Durn in circ. 1770. The house has retained many of its original features with huge open fires, superb plasterwork, magnificent stone spiral staircase, and very large rooms.
