Fabulous restaurant. Nothing comes close for 100s of miles. If you want a 5* experience from a master chef anywhere in Panama, this is THE place to go! I was fortunate enough to eat there on three occasions during a month long stay in the area. Each meal was better than the last. Whether you choose American, French, Asian or anything in between, it will taste authentic with a master chef's flair. Highly recommended.
Simply one of the most beautiful places in Panama : world class ! Mike’s place overlooks a one of a kind beach with powerful waves. Mike is a genius self-made cook and will make your stay a gastronomic revelation. Probably the best table in Panama ... in magic surroundings ! Don’t pass on the word.
It had been a long day in search of a captain that would take me to the southernmost point of North America for an adventurous solo fishing trip. I had rented a Toyota 4WD truck in Santiago and brought (2) 5 gallon containers of my own gasoline infused with two cycle oil. After finally finding a captain that spoke very garbled Spanish what I came to understand was that the tide was too low and surf too high to get a boat out on that particular day......and so I was forced to abort my attempted day of fishing all together. Luckily on my return trip North I stumbled across a remote and accommodating hotel by the name of Eco El Sol. I was immediately greeted by Michael, the owner and in-house chef of El Sol. I was shown to my room and treated to a fantastic meal of home made fettuccine w/colorful and delicious home-grown vegetables. After some chat reguarding my plans for the next day I was greeted to a solid night of sleep with A/C. The following day started with a rich cup of Boquete-grown Panamanian coffee and delicious breakfast. I was also provided with a large cooler with ice aplenty and headed for the recommended Puerta Nanci. I ended up with a good size yellow fin tuna and a beautiful dorado which served in part as dinner for that night along with homemade pasta and sautéed zucchini. Can’t wait to return and spend a solid week there with my girlfriend. Many thanks to Michael for his hospitality and great local advice that made my adventure possible. Another thing very worth mentioning besides the comfortable rooms, the hospitable atmosphere and excellent food is the beautiful pool with views of the west coast of the Azuero peninsula and Pacific Ocean. They are second to none and are entertaining in their own right! My genuine thanks to Michael for having chosen such a unique location with such picturesque land and seascapes and accommodating a weary Gringo traveler of modest means. My thanks with all due sincerity, Gregorio…
We did not stay at the hotel which looks excellent. We went there for lunch which was absolutely delicious. We were greeted by Michael who is the owner of the hotel and the chef. We had delicious Asian food which was mouthwatering with homemade potstickers as a starter. A curry and Pad Thai. The menu is extensive and if you order in advance Michael will make it for you. Even Vidaloo, steak, Hamburger and his own freshly made pasta. Plus much much more. He serves breakfast lunch and dinner too. If you are in the area do not miss the experience! Well worth staying at his hotel which has lovely rooms great views and very close to the beach. Michel is a nice guy so don't miss out.
We had a great meal with stunning views and wonderful service. Michael's menu is eclectic and his attention to detail really makes for top notch cuisine. The steak was melt in your mouth perfection, served with delicious scalloped potatoes and a cheesecake desert served like a custard! These are healthy portions too. Visiting El Sol is a fantastic experience all around.
