We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, but we were so glad we did! The food was fresh, made to order, and absolutely delicious. The owner made sure my husband's meal adhered to his diet, and made the only bok choy I've ever liked! And make sure to be there to watch the sunset, the view can't be beat!

We luckily came across Michael at Hotel El Sol while looking for our hotel. He was very helpful in getting us to our destination! He invited us back for dinner later on that week, where the food was out of this world. He even took the time to customize the existing menu based on the type of foods that we enjoy and our dietary restrictions! For our next trip to the region we plan on staying there. If you find yourself in the area, Michael and Hotel El Sol is an absolute must!

The hotel was perfect! Clean rooms, the greatest view and the pool was very nice. The food was delicious but a bit too pricy. The kitchen on our terrace was really an added value as you also get all the kitchen utilities to use!

Thank you for your kind words Anneka It is a good point you made with respect to the prices. An explanation is needed. I hope you don't mind? Our food is pricey as you say, because we poach everything in olive oil which we have to throw away! that is a $2 - $3 overhead on every dish. But the quality of the cook and final result should be spectacular. Sauces are made from olive oil, butter & cream. Steak sauces are demi-glaces taking 24+ hours of cooking. Olive oil is used in salad dressings. Our produce is provided locally and the fish is over sized chosen from spear fisherman the most sustainable resource. But as a result it is more expensive than smaller line or net fished, due to this. The loss in the head is +30%. Cooking uses sous-vide technology. So it is not cheap with an extra investment of +$5000. A normal Panamanian kitchen costs $200! Almost Everything: bread, pasta hamburger buns are all home made and I hope you'll agree are delicious!! A special modified BBQ to just make bread $600 The eggs are free range the cost per egg is significant. Sold at a loss. Doing farm to table doesn't mean cheap unfortunately. I hope that you will come back in the future. The food will be even better!!

I came here for a solo 10 day trip to work remotely. This place exceeded my expectations. The food was a notch above. After a few days of learning the menu I was eating very good pho for breakfast every day. The langosta/prawn chirashi don was incredible and I come from the sushi capital of the world (vancouver... Yes the Japanese I know agree). The room I had was great with ocean views and a great patio to relax. Views from the restaurant are incredible. There is easy access (5-10) min to world class surf or swimming beaches. If want traditional Panamanian food you can head to Costa Azul 15 min north. You will definitely want a car here and unless you are used to driving off road, get an SUV. I was working remotely for 10 days here and it was quiet and there was internet and 4g. I got a lot of work done while enjoying myself tremendously. I'll be back!

This is a great hotel. Gorgeous part of the Azuero Peninsular coast with outrageous views and well worth getting there. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms nice with good bathrooms and cleanliness. What is truly spectacular about this place is the food. Michael is an outstanding, creative chef and every meal is flavour full of delight. I liked that I could take my dog there. To get the best of the coastline a 4WD is a benefit, but you can hike to many beaches or drive to some. Unspoiled, wild and beautiful. The hotel has character and is a great place to stay and enjoy. The sunsets are very special from here.
