Nice a cool climate, beautiful rainforest. Impressive gardens, delicious food. I would return here. Rooms are kept cozy, with warm blankets. There are a variety of activities as options and the staff is kind and professional.

Driving from Pan Am Hwy 2 down to el Trogon is incredible...

The road is norrow but nice and full of incredible views...big nice trees.

The area was famous among fishermen...the DADA family decided to open a nice restaurant / Hotel...

The food there is the best.

This is a nature retreat in a tiny valley. Think of it if you want to relax or go out for nature walks. And for the quetzal, we had the early morning tour and it was rewarding.
The road to the hotel is steep but not so bad. The hotel is made of bungalows disseminated all over the

I am renting a small SUV, a Daihatsu Bego, which has good clearance and front wheel but not four wheel drive. I am used to driving on tricky roads and am confident I can drive down to Trogon Lodge, but will I be able to get up to the main highway with front wheel drive, assuming I do so when it's dry? Thank you. John Jaeger
There will not be a problem!

We were planing to stay 3 night then go to the beach all inclusive resort would like not to rent a car suggestions
The Lodge can arrange private transfers for you in case you don't want To drive. Nearest beaches include Dominical and Manuel Antonio, but these don't offer all inclusive r sorts which are mainly in the Guanacaste area and a bit too far to drive there from Trogon. Manuel Antonio offers escellent full lodging options but none all inclusive.

Can you tell me what's the nearest airport and how long would the commute be please? I'm looking to visit in December for my birthday and trying to plan accordingly.
The closest airport is San Jose, and depending on traffic drive is usually 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It is important to consider road conditions and daylight. It gets dark in CR through the year around 5:30 ton6:00 pm and we do recommend driving on daytime. If your flight arrives in the country later than 2:00 pm, we would recommend an overnight in the city before departing.

We are in the process of booking this lodge and were wondering which room to request as we'll be there for 3 nights. I've read the room tips and found them confusing. We want views and privacy but I don't want to have to climb lots of steps. What are the cabins near the river like and what are their numbers? Where are the newer cabins and what are their numbers? We would love to see a plan showing all the cabins, their locations and their numbers.
Hi Jill, Sorry to be a pain but if you go onto the 'Mawamba' website you will find a plan of the Trogon site that you can download, enjoy Jim Palmer

Can you please tell me what amenities are found in the rooms? I'm especially curious about a blowdyer but want to be sure I pack everything I need.
Trogon lodge is an expensive 2 stars hotel, the difference is based in the beauty of the place. Amenities in the room? you wont find a tv there... you can count with toilette paper (bring your toiletries), a small heater, the beds and the views. If you want coffee you must go to the bar or the restaurant, no coffee or anything else in the room.

"All of them are great!!"
"Some rooms are closer to the common areas while others are more secluded/closer to the river. Ask for whatever suits you best"
"I don't think that there is a anything other than a good room at Trogon Lodge."
"Steep walk ways to rooms worth telling them in advance if you have any physical difficulties"
"Cabin 12 seemed pretty quiet and secluded, and the side window and the front porch overlooked the beautiful Savegre River."
