You can tell this is a family run hotel. The level of service was excellent, food, buffet style with plenty of choice and most of it delicious. The gardens are full of birds and the guide we had first thing one morning was first class. We saw more birds with him in an hour, than anywhere else including most of...

My family loves San Gerardo de Dota and we have stayed at Savegre Hotel several times. The hotel is very well done. The grounds are nicely kept with beautiful gardens. The rooms are charming and well-equipped. There is a cozy lounge-bar that is perfect on those cold evenings. The trails are well maintained and we've had good luck spotting trogons....

We were brought here after Pacific Trade Winds organized a family trip for us - 3 days of a 7 day vacation in Costa Rica. Savegre Hotel is very comfortable, in the setting of a forest teeming with amazing birds. We had guided hikes with Melvin both mornings, and were impressed by his knowledge, patience and curiosity. Without Melvin we...

Although many people write very enthusiastic reviews about the savegre hotel, I would like to warn anyone who is actually looking for a nice place, managed with love and care and with quality food. Something that we, customers/travellers, all value right? Please DO NOT stay at the savegre hotel. You will be very dissapointed by the bulk-tourist vibe and the...

Felipe C, Director of Sales at Savegre Hotel, Natural Reserve & Spa, responded to this review Thanks for your review. Very nice resort secluded in the very heart of the forest. Rooms are well appointed, especially in the bathroom. All rooms are equipped with space heaters if you need it, as well. A nice buffet breakfast is included as well. A ton of birds visit the grounds, including the bird feeder just outside the restaurant. You can see at least...

We came here with a small group at the end of our trip and it was a good place to unwind. The rooms were good, although there was only one bedside light. The grounds were quite pretty and the walks were fine -- be prepared for some fairly steep bits and deepish mud in places. There is a walk to...

This hotel is located down a steep, windy road with gorgeous vistas. We loved the grounds of this hotel! We only stayed one night, but enjoyed our stay. We hiked the surrounding trails, which were steep but beautiful. The rooms are nice and clean. There is only a buffet, which may bother some, but I thought the food was pretty...

First off, we are not birders and did not come to Savegre to hunt for a Quetzal. We came to the area to hike and enjoy the mountains. From that perspective, Savegre did not deliver. The property trail- Las Robles is poorly maintained and unsafe. The trail to the first waterfall is OK; the trail to the 2nd waterfall is...

A clean, comfortable and well equipped hotel (spa etc - not used). Rooms large and good common areas. Restaurant food was good. Lovely location and recognised as an area to see quetzels which we were lucky enough to do.
