Arrived here after an 10 hour drive with Just Go holidays. Unfortunately the last night of our holiday did not include an evening meal. The Tour Rep conned us into paying 16 euros each for a Buffet meal as there was nowhere else to eat locally to her knowledge - Boy oh boy where do you start. The staff ignored... More

We visited this hotel as part of a "Rhine in Flames" holiday, and having read some previous guest reviews were anticipating the worst. We were pleasantly surprised however as the hotel turned out to be OK. It is a family run, typically Bavarian style hotel with dark decor in dining areas and bars, the walls covered in hunting trophies, which... More

We take a group of students to the Rhine/Moselle every year, and this year our normal hotel was fully booked, so we were allocated a new hotel. From the outset we were very impressed. The hotel owner speaks excellent English (despite the fact that we spoke German), and the welcome was excellent. The hotel itself overlooks the river, so breakfast... More

We stayed here overnight on our way back to Calais with Just Go Holidays. Thank goodness we were only there one night. The manager and staff were all miserable, the rooms were very dark, and the food awful. The animal heads and skulls on the walls in the restaurant didn't help. The only good thing about the hotel was the... More

Situated almost on the banks of the Moselle, with superb views across the river to the vineyards and castle opposite, The Anker Hotel is somewhat of a collection of rambling but connected communal areas...rich in history but nonetheless rather depressing. The bedrooms to the rear of the reception/restaurants etc. we found to be very gloomy...lacking in sunshine and as a consequence... The hotel was quite dark...typical bavarIan style with lots of animal heads and skulls mounted on the walls. The bedroom was clean and functional but could do with an update. My only gripes were that I put on my booking for that I was a vegetarian but in the evening meal the chef just shrugged his shoulders and offered me... More

I came to the Anker hotel with my Sister & Parents for 4 nights. First of all, I won't be judging on the landscape outside, as that's obviously not the hotel (although when clear it was quite breathtaking). So, the 'welcoming' wasn't very warm at all as, when we came in the manager sternly placed the key in our hands... More

The Anker Hotel overlooks the Moselle River (which unfortunately was foggy during our one night stop over on our Christmas holiday). Our coach party was greeted by a lantern swaying hotel owner in the fog and giving us a very warm welcome! We had hot, plentiful food in an atmospheric hotel on a cold winters night. Local villagers were in... More

We've been to the Anker hotel around seven times, including in the summer, and like this hotel, as it is a one-off family run hotel, and is kept warm. The food is plain but OK, and they have my vegetarian meal ready. Of course you hardly see outside if here for the markets, but in summer you can see it... More
