Detailed Reviews
I only spent 1 night at the Ikaros Suites but had a really enjoyable time. The location is 15 km west of Heraklion town about 2 minutes from the beach. The local beach itself is OK but not epic.
The property has a nice pool with relaxing and eating areas as its focus. The suite had a very large living area with modern furnishings, a comfy bed and shower room. I’d say the location is quiet with the odd cat fighting, but I seemed to get that everywhere I stayed in Crete :0
The best part about my stay was the staff and the food. The staff, mainly from the same family, treated you like family. Like many Cretans I had met, they were so friendly and helpful As soon as I arrived I was offered a glass (or 4!) of the home-made raki which was really nice and had a great conversation with the head of the family. The food was the best I had tasted in Crete. All made with produce from the family’s farm in the nearby hills. The portions were huge but so tasty and the local red wine excellent. The food made my stay perfect. I’d definitely return.

Perfect accommodation - the modern rooms are nicely decorated, clean, with sea views and balcony. Pool and outdoor seating is a relaxing oasis - you will fall in love with. The place is quiet and yet a short walk from the beach, restaurants and shops. The restaurant in this family hotel cooks absolutely sensationally and all the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. The owners are the most amazing people, they always help you with everything, advise and are 100% available to you. I can definitely highly recommend this accommodation and I'd love to come back here again ♥

Ikaros Suites was absolutely incredible. We stumbled across it when looking for somewhere to stay after our original hotel turned out to be a disaster, and they were able to squeeze us in for 3 nights in July. They were warm, welcoming and friendly - a family run business, everyone has a part to play from front desk to car for hire, and a beautiful handmade jewellery stall in the reception area. The rooms were beautiful, modern and clean, and the pool provided the perfect intimate and quiet spot to relax, as well as being just 2 minutes from the local beach. I genuinely cannot recommend this place enough to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, far from the hustle and bustle of busy resorts and screaming kids. The hotel also shares its premises with the poolside Murelo restaurant, where we ate twice and had beautiful vegetable pasta (perhaps would have been nicer to have some other veggie options but that was really not a problem). There were also really nice restaurants and cute shops within walking distance, and a 5 minute walk from the hotel there's a bus to central Heraklion. Truly this was the best holiday ever due to Ikaros suites being so lovely - the staff were friendly, the facilities were wonderful and clean, and the neighbourhood was exactly what we were looking for. As two women, we felt safe here and this was largely due to the staff and the vibe at Ikaros. Thank you so so much, we can't wait to come back - Sam and Alya

While the surrounding area isn’t the most interesting aside from a very nice blue flag beach, this little place is so special you won’t want to leave it anyway. We stayed here at the end of several weeks exploring and it was the perfect way to end our time in Crete. The care and love has gone into furnishing this little place is evident everywhere you look. Tip: get the breakfast, it is fresh and different every day with lots of variety and more than you can possibly eat. The restaurant is amazing and you must try it! The pool is small but perfect. We found the hospitality unmatched by any of the other places we stayed. This is what makes it stand out!

We didn’t stay here, but we did eat dinner here twice and I only wish we had found this jewel earlier in our stay. I have honestly never tasted food so fresh and tasty. There has been some recent renovations and this hotel now sports the most beautiful pool area. Shady, comfortable, it really is a stunning spot. Next time I need to get my head down and spend a week writing, I plan to head here. So very peaceful. The owners are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. Marina spoke the most perfect English.

Here's a very simple apartment hotel that is 100m from a wonderful beach and beach tavernas, 100m away from a small grocery & 300m from the vivid part of the long Andrea Papandreiou street, where you find reataurant, super markets, bars and many other beaches.
Ikaros is not fancy or up-scale, it is simple, very clean, spacious, w/ kitchentte, medium quality beds, a small lcd TV, and some of the best, kindest and most heartwarming owners/staff to be ever found. It is a small family business, you can also buy the family's own produce of wine, Raki and Olive Oil. Good stuff!

Poor location (surrounded by what looks like a building site?... visible on Google Maps). Little selection at breakfast. Staff seem standoffish and inflexible. Saw lots of other hotels nearby which looked better amd the beach was nice so worth checking around for other properties.

We stayed for 10 days at the Ikaros Apartments. As we traveled with a young baby, we stayed mostly in and around the apartment.
The apartments and the restaurant Mourelo are family run. The owners are super friendly and welcomed us with open arms. During our stay, they made sure we felt at home and had everything we needed.
The apartment was very comfortable, had a nice view to the sea and made us feel at home right from the beginning. The whole building is well cared for and tastefully decorated.
The beach is very close. The two minutes walk is nice and as the building is not directly by the beach, it feels much quieter thant the other hotels. We can recommend this place to everybody who likes a nice, friendly and quiet environment. If you want to party every night, this is probably not the place for you as the clubs are not nearby.
To sum it up, all our expectations have been surpassed and we would love to come back.
