We stayed in the main villa in rooms with a VIEW. Had great breakfasts, swam in the pool, watched and listened to the Howler monkeys, Toucans and all verity of critters. The flowers were of special interest to me and everywhere the eye could take in. Gordon and Nancy (owners and hosts) treated us like visiting VIP's, and we met... More

My wife and I spent two nights here. We came in after dark and we awed when we woke up to the incredible view of the lake and the volcano. I spent the first day without leaving the swinging basket chair on the porch overlooking the lake. I was unable to tell time of day and forgot what day of... More

We had a wonderful dinner at Nepenthe! It was simply delicious! The owner came to our table and visited. He was very friendly. Good wine. Very friendly service! Lovely views! Cute little dog that sat at the bar.

We ventured up to Castillo and were happy to discover Nepenthe, a place of no sorrows. The setting is lovely, rooms are comfortable. There's a pool, wi fi, breakfast and an amazing view. Agustin, the manager is fascinating and helpful. We saw monkeys in the trees and baby goats nearby,

My girlfriend and I stayed here in March 2015 for 3 nights and we would both highly recommend this B&B. It is not the cheapest in the area, but we could not have been happier with our choice. It sits in the heart of the National Park, in the shadow of Arenal Volcano, and overlooking the dam, so it is... More

As advertised the views are just incredible, the service is fantastic, Augustine handles all the details of any excursion, chef Benedict is a master, the best Ceviche ever! The spa is world class, and Señor Gordon is a wonderful host.

My wife and I spent our 7th wedding anniversary at Nepenthe… really nice, we enjoyed every minute. We got royalty treatment from the staff, the views are spectacular, the amenities are warm and comfortable, and dinner at their restaurant Benedicts Steak House was superb. I recommend either the cerviche or chef salad for starters, and then any of the entrees... More

My fiance and I stayed at this establishment for a few nights at the end of our trip to Costa Rica. As it was July and the low season, we were the only guests. Regardless, we were treated wonderfully and the staff was very attentive, before and during the stay. Breakfast was always ready in the morning, no matter the... More

Absolutely incredible! The view was breathtaking, the manager, Augustine, was extremely kind and helpful. The restaurant on site, with Chef Benedict, served some of the best food I've ever had. Highly recommend going to the Arenal National Park; stunning views and gorgeous nature. I cannot rave about this place enough!!

We stayed here on our trip to Costa Rica right after getting engaged. It's a bit of a drive to get there, especially the last bit, but totally worth it at the end. An incredible view, lovely porch and pool, hot tub, great food, and interesting hosts. The restaurant was just being set up at the time, but we liked... More
