We only stayed one night. We wish we could have stayed longer; we just haven't quite adopted the 'Tico' lifestyle. Our room was terrific, you could hear the ocean out one side and the birds out the other! We spent some time in their pool,...More
9 days in this beautiful resort.
The hotel rooms were excellent and immaculate. The food was great with several different options for dinner.
We have traveled a lot and this is one of the finest hotels we have experienced.

First of all, this is a very nice hotel. However, I stayed at the J.W. Marriott in Los Cabos Mexico last year, and that was hands down the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. So the three star rating is comparing it to that one....More
Although the hotel certainly has a wow feel to it, we were disappointed with several features. 1)Getting around hotel is difficult- have to take two separate elevators (not near each other) to get from 4th floor rooms to 1st floor restaurant. 2)Elevators had no a/c...More

Dear Jon W;
Sometimes is difficult to understand the hotel, that is why we give a map to our guests at check in and explain a little bit where are located the restaurants, spa and different services. I regret this has been an inconvenience for...More
Beautiful hotel in an amazing location. Hotel has great views of the pools and the beach. Surrounding lush jungle gives an amazing tropical feel. Unfortunately restaurant service is slow at best, and waiters often forget to bring drinks or food. Sadly each time I have...More

Breakfast was included with our booking and was a very good, huge buffet (I mean expansive). There are at least five restaurants, and I may have missed one. The prices vary from typical pub prices at the sports bar to high end steakhouse. Most of it though (I thought) falls in line price wise with what you’d expect from most hotel fare of this rating. We had dinner one night at the Thai-inspired place, which was stellar in food and service, and entrees were about $20-25 for the most part. Our burgers at the pub were between $12-15, but the service was terrible. You are about 20 minutes from Tamarindo where there are grocery stores and a ton of eateries. Many of the ones on the main road through town are pretty expensive as they’re all owned by the Diria hotel. My favorite spot in Tama is La Oveja Negra (The Black Sheep). Super tasty and affordable outdoor dining.

The resort is very family friendly. While 15 and 18-year olds are not "kids" in my opinion, there were at least two medium-sized family reunions while were were at the property with a variety of ages for kids to young adults to very old adults. The kids were playing openly in both the pool and on the lawn.
There was not a lot of "entertainment" for children offered when we were there, but we visited in the shoulder season between the rainy and dry seasons and there was a lot of hotel maintenance going on in preparation for the busy time. There were numerous hints that the hotel does have local entertainment during the more busy times.
