Overall this week has exceeded our expectations. Firstly very clean and pleasant room with lovely bathroom. Room overlooking the pool on the ground floor. Very pleasant. Food far better than expected. Lovely salads and a variety of choices at each meal. Not easy for the last week of a very quiet season. The pool is clean and the sunbeds are in good condition. There doesn’t seem to be much cleaning around the pool area but that could be due to the minimal staff on. The reception cover the bar as well and the waitresses cover drinks, food and table clearing in the restaurant single handed without complaint. The dining room is dated but all it would take is the tables and chairs painting and the bar area updating and the hotel would be enhanced. The drinks are poor for all inclusive but the beer is ok. All the staff are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. Clean towels and rooms every day. Would definitely return here if in Crete again.

Comfortable hotel, lovely swimming pool, nice outdoor area to sit and have a drink or eat your food. Dining room was a bit dreary, a bit like a school canteen. On the whole the food was ok, the Greek Salads were lovely though as were the trays of baklava that were sometimes part of the dessert choices, otherwise it was the usual jellies and instant whip and fresh fruit. It was a bit off putting to see people rooting through bunches of grapes and bread rolls with their hands even though tongs were provided, I guess this can happen anywhere.
Room itself was very comfortable and because we were on the ground floor right beside the pool we are able to pick up the WIFI perfectly. WIFI is only available in reception and poolside. I was very thankful for this as the only British tv channel available was a rolling BBC news channel. Lots of German channels were available as the majority of guests in this resort are German, I think were the only Brits there bar one family. The bed was extremely comfortable I have to say.
Location is great surrounded by gift shops, bars and eateries and the lovely sandy beach was just over the road. There's a good bus service into Rethymnon - which is well worth a visit.
The all inclusive drinks were very limited, a choice of white wine, rose or beer, thankfully all drinkable- a little more choice would've been nice though. You could pay for different drinks but the bar wasn't permanently manned so if you wanted something different you'd have to seek out a member of staff and pay, a bit of a pain. Afternoon snacks weren't great - rather dry looking mini croissants or sausage rolls, the slices of cake and ice creams were ok the coffee and tea was decent too. There is no entertainment in this hotel which would've been nice but I knew this before we booked. Pool table wasn't free, air con in the room was 5 Euros a day but we needed it so we paid for it. Lots of people were playing UNO including us!
I had a lovely relaxing week in this hotel, thankfully it was lovely and sunny every day. We had a good value break and whilst I'm not complaining about this hotel as it was clean and comfortable it was a little impersonal. If I were to return to Crete which I hope to, I'd probably pay a bit more and chose a hotel with a little more going on.

Overall, we are satisfied with our stay, we stayed for a week in mid-August. There are pros and cons. We arrived around 7 a.m. and got a room at 9 a.m. 4 people, but one sleeping on a camp bed. Air conditioning costs EUR 32 for 7 days and EUR 10.50 for air conditioning. A room with a view of nothing, a bit of grass and that's all, air conditioning, hairdryer, small TV, small fridge, furniture from the Polish People's Republic and two dilapidated rattan chairs on the balcony. Breakfast is a disaster, the same every day - eggs, ham, mortadella, feta, tomato, cucumber, some cookies, sausages. 9-23 alcohol - beer (as it was), white and red wine, soft drinks, coffee, tea, some ice cream and cookies from breakfast. Snacks are cookies from breakfast. Tasty lunches, something different every day and the same for dinner. But the all-wheel drive didn't even close. The swimming pool is clean and well-kept, there are plenty of free sun loungers, but there are always people booking towels that take up the early days. There is a smoking zone that no one uses, of course. The hotel doesn't provide wristbands, so there was a guy, a diver, who simply went out to the pool in his underwear, swam, had a drink and left, heh. The area is hopeless, the beach is dirty, so it's worth buying tickets for bus line 20, 1.20 euros, in any supermarket and going to Rethymno. 30 m from the hotel, behind the fence there is a minoan car rental. Great prices, no deposit, just a license and ID. vw up 1.0 per day 55 euros for two 100 euros. There's a lot to see by car. Chania 60km, Elafonisi beach 140km, turtle lake 25km and many others. Overall, a great base. As I mentioned, the food is monotonous, but there are a lot of pubs, everything is closed in the hotel after 11 p.m. and the only attraction are two cats, a black and white one and a red one, heh. In the evening it smells of sewage, I don't know where it comes from. An ok place for a getaway, but the hotel itself is not worth the price, and in our case it was almost PLN 13,000, it cannot be called all inclusive, only 3 meals and snacks. There is no point in relying on YouTube videos because you will find something else. The town is also misspelled, Platanes, not Platanias. Platanias is near Chania 60 km away.
The staff was exceptional, helpful and accommodating.

We had a wonderful time at the Rethymno Village Hotel.
We just spent 2 weeks and everything was perfect. The hotel, the room, the swimming pool.
The hotel is extremely clean and there is staff constantly cleaning all areas, especially near the bar and pool.
We read several reviews on the food variety and we think that, in our opinion, there is sufficient variety of food for an all inclusive resort with one restaurant.
Free drinks (including beer and wine) are always available, every morning they have snacks, every afternoon ice-creams, every evening they have a selection of liquors and brandies.
Other cocktails, for those wishing something different, are always available for sale, usually around €4.
The location of the hotel is superb, on the main street of Platanes and a 2 minute walk from dozens of restaurants, bars and shops.
The hotel is also 3 minute walk from the nearby beaches although please note that all beaches in Rethymno (except very few ones very close to the harbour) have stones which can be quite a pain if you are not used to them. Alternatively, you can buy special shoes at one of the many shops nearby.
If you are looking for crystal clear water and pristine beaches, however, we recommend to rent a car and make a few excursions to the south coast (driving distance varies from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the beach location).
A bus will take you to the central Rethymno, which is a true gem only a few kilometres away, for €1.20 or €9 by taxi which could be a convenient option if you are sharing with others.
The staff are extremely friendly and will do their very best to help you.
You can request a basket lunch for the days when you will be doing excursions.
In our opinion this should be at least a four star hotel and we will definitely go back.

Arrived mid afternoon to be told they had no room for my friend and I and that we would have to spend night in a family room before moving to our booked room the next morning.
The family room was the pits it was dire with a large wooden 4 poster bed that was filthy underneath.
Anyway we went for evening meal to have a quarter chicken breast and a handful of chips thrown onto a plate by a scruffy looking chef who was so miserable.
The rest of the food been served looked disgusting the dining room had wooden tables no cloths on and you had to queue up like school dining room.
Then if you wanted desert you had to get in another queue but this one was also the drinks queue just one server so you can imagine the chaos.
All inclusive hotel with only 4 spirits and beer and wine on offer served in cheap plastic children’s cups it was terrible and never saw any snacks been served.
After the episode of our first evening meal we decided to eat out its a good job we had money with us to finance this but there was no way we could eat at this hotel.
The hotel has no entertainment so in the evening people were just sat around the pool drinking from plastic cups there was no atmosphere whatsoever.
The room we were eventually given was ok although very run down and had to pay 5 euros a night for air con.
The pool area is ok too plenty of sun beds and large pool but again looking run down.
My review of hotel zero out of 10 the hotel is situated in a quaint area with a few bars and shops but again all the area looks run down.
I will go to Crete again but will be avoiding this hotel.

We arrived the 27th September at just gone midnight, the reception man was so welcoming really lovely greeting. We arrived in our room to it being absolutely spotless , there was 2 bottles of pop, a bottle of water and 2 ham and cheese bread rolls left for us in the fridge. Was a really nice thought as it was so late when we arrived. The food is good always something to eat not 5 star but it isn't 5 star! So I don't understand some of the reviews on here. The place is absolutely spotless they work really hard to keep it clean, as for the drink side yes you have to serve yourself but you have to go to the bar anyway, so that isn't an issue either. Local beer, white wine, red wine all varieties of fizzy pop! As for shorts they put HUGE bottles of shorts out in the evening Ouzo, whisky and vodka and blackcurrant to go with the Ouzo. In the day you get ice cream (it's better than the ice cream outside) so save your money 😊All in all a lovely stay would definitely go back . And also the rooms are cleaned daily except Sundays (well they do need a day off) 😊

We arrived last Wednesday for a 5 night break. The rooms were basic but just what you need, very clean, although they say air conditioned rooms you do have to pay extra for it, €5 per day. The pool area was nice although the sunbeds are very crammed together.
The food !! There is nothing positive I can say, it’s all the same , we ate in there on the first night and knew that would be our last, we ended up finding a different restaurant each night of our stay. Fish smelt rotten, chicken looked pink and the bread rolls could cause dental issues.
The all inclusive was a bit of a con, flat cheap soda, 1 beer and 2 wines on a self service tap, spirits were not included in the all inclusive!!!!
They should tell you this when booking the holiday.
We would not go back to this hotel under the all inclusive option as it is a bit of a con.
The housekeeping staff were lovely and the reception staff were nice

We Visited here October 2021. In a positive sense I need to say the staff are very friendly and polite, they work very long hours. Unfortunately though the all inclusive aspect is shocking worst I’ve ever been on, the alcohol is very limited self service beer, cheap horrible wine during the day only! In the evening your choice is watered down ouzo, brandy, red vodka?! And Raki all was not nice to taste at all. So I thought I’d choose to drink coffee but there is only a machine that is switched off by 11pm not to be switched back on until breakfast next day, I enjoy a coffee if I wake during the night and earlier in the morning in fact I’d rather have a kettle in my room to make and choose when to have a brew this hotel does not provide this basic need. In addition I’d like to mention that there is a daily charge if you want to purchase the remote control for the air conditioning again a basic need not being met. The food is repetitive and very basic The is freezing. I hate to be negative but I think people should be aware before they book here. The cleanliness of our room was very good

I felt robbed after paying for an all inclusive that basically gave me self service draft wine (yes, that’s a thing apparently), bad beer and sodas and not at all hours. The coffee was the worst I ever tasted and after 7pm there were self service bottles of cranberry sugared vodka (again, ?!?), raki, ouzo and watered down brandy. There is no pool side bar till 9pm and if you want cocktails or other drinks you have to pay for them. By the third day we were feeling sick because of the food. It was all VERY PROCESSED, with sugar and they only had about 3 choices of food including “fish” that smelled rotten. We had to start eating outside the “all inclusive” we paid for so we could enjoy our holiday and not spending it feeling sick. The breakfast had only eggs, some weird ham, canned fruit, day old bread and ok yoghurt with canned fruit. The food wasn’t even that different from one day to the other. The positive side: the pool is nice and the bedroom was ok although we had to pay extra to get air conditioner. The beach close by is also not that good and you have to pay for the chairs that basically occupy the whole beach. Plus, no towels, bring your own or you’ll have to buy some. People should be aware of this before coming here but my advice would be, chose another hotel. Rethymno is really nice and every other hotel seems better and not that much expensive. Or at least, don’t be fooled with the all inclusive, it’s not all inclusive. And the food every where else is great. It’s sad how bad it is at this place.

We had such a wonderful time at this place for almost a week during our break at the end of October. The location of the hotel is just great if you are looking for relaxation. Nice very long beach only 100 meters from the hotel. There is a good choice of pubs, souvenir shops, tourist and beauty services in the area. Also Lidl is just a few minutes walk away. The old town of Rethymno is easily accessible by local bus. We arrived at the hotel early in the morning and despite that, we were immediately allocated a room and invited to breakfast. The rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable with a sunny balcony overlooking the pool. The rooms were cleaned every day. The swimming pool is large, very clean and has more than plenty of comfortable sun beds with tables and umbrellas. There is also a bar by the pool with nice drinks and tasty snacks. The food in this place is to die for and the choice for each meal is huge with new dishes added daily. We really enjoyed the local and vegetarian dishes the most, as well as theirs beautiful desserts. Why we will definitely come back to this hotel again is an amazing, friendly service that took care of us every day and made us feel very welcome guests.

At a rough guess you'd be looking at around 95 euros 1 way. we always hire a car for approx £50 a week so if you can drive it's worth it, even if you leave it parked up for the duration.

Hi Nicola B. Whilst we were there, there was Brandy. Vodka and blackcurrant, Raki and Ouzo from 7 p.m. onwards. And during the day there was local beer (lager) red wine and white wine all on tap.
