My wife, 3 years old son and myself have stayed at this hotel for 11 nights, in the period from 24 June to 5 July 2021. My overall impression is good, although I expected a bit more, unlike my spouse, who expected much more. Anyway, the hotel staff was somewhat confused with all these COVID measures. The food was good, we had to wear gloves and a mask each time when we had a meal. In general, it was now allowed to take food out of the restaurant, but they were flexible, if you explain that you have a child and sometimes is more convenient to bring food in the room. In the package All inclusive, you get only filter coffee, no espresso nor capuchino. You have non-alcoholic drinks, one draft beer, wine, Pepsi, seven up and some other beverages. I would like to praise all cleaning ladies. There is also this nice market, where there are a lot of interesting things, especially for the kids and the prices are by high.
My biggest failure about this hotel (but that’s in many areas in Greece unfortunately) is the WiFi connection. The signal was not working properly and that’s the huge minus for the hotel.

Lovely hotel in an amazing location, relaxed vibe, great variety of quality food, snacks and drinks, friendly staff and clean rooms. In regards to the Covid-19 situation, we felt very safe; hand sanitizer dispensers were available in all common areas, all the employees were wearing both protection masks and plastic face shields (!), disinfection of chairs, sun beds etc was carried out at regular intervals (!!) physical distancing was maintained. We were impressed with the organization, the service and the Cretan philoxenia (hospitality). We highly recommend this hotel! Thanks!

Having stayed at the sister hotel in Rethymnon on several occasions and owned my own house (now sold) in the area I decided to try Minos Mare which I remembered the owners building some years ago. The hotel is well positioned, on the beach, but within an easy walk off the main street passing through Platanes with its numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Travelling alone, I had requested a quiet room not on the ground floor prior to my arrival. The room I was given overlooked a strip of garden, the entrance to the hotel and a small parking area, together with a distant view across another car park of the rubbish bins! I did not experience any real disturbance by the transfer coaches or other traffic which came and went during my stay, however. It was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities provided. A couple of drawbacks, the safe ( for an extra charge) was in a really high cupboard, not being tall, I could barely reach it. In addition, the only mirror was in the bathroom which could cause a problem if two people were getting showered/ready at the same time. Personally I am not a fan of fixed hairdryers and take my own, another mirror over the desk/dressing table needs to be provided. Other guests were mainly European couples and some families. I seemed to be the only UK resident in the hotel at one stage! I found the reception and cleaning staff to be pleasant and hard working. The animations team were poor, no circulating with guests. After announcing activities they usually waited around for a short while before disappearing, leaving the pool area with extremely loud music blasting out if no one chose to participate. Towards the end of my stay (and complaints being made) the volume was reduced to a more reasonable level, The entertainment was OK, my favourite evening being the Greek night, featuring three musicians and four dancers for over two hours. It was one of the best I have seen over many years. The food was excellent, well presented and served, with plenty of choice provided for all meals. There was a good selection of drinks on a self service basis available in the restaurant and the bar staff generally worked hard dealing with guests around the pool. I found the pool area to be clean and well maintained, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas there and on the beach. Pool towels are available on payment of a deposit which is refunded on their return. There is a small mini market on site. A spa and beachside restaurant are available for an extra charge, though I never used either of these. All in all, I enjoyed my stay and will no doubt return in future.

We stayed for a week in June. The hotel is lovely, spotlessly clean with staff working hard to maintain it. The rooms had plenty of space, we had a double bed and a double sofa bed and an outdoor terrace. The rooms have a fridge which is filled with free bottled water every day, and tea and coffee facilities. They also refill free shower gel, shampoo etc every day. The restaurant food was excellent, fresh foods being prepared and plenty of options, lovely salads, amazing desserts. The pool bar had snacks during the day; sandwiches, cakes, fruit. At lunch time the pool bar had some options like pizza, fries and salads. Lots of sun loungers around the pool and on the private beach. There's a little shop which is reasonably priced. There's some activities during the day such as aqua aerobics and darts and most nights had entertainment like dancers, magician. There are shops, restaurants and bars at the top of the street which is nice to wander along. You can get a taxi into Rethymno for 10 euro. We absolutely loved our holiday and would recommend to anyone thinking of booking!

My wife and I arrived at the hotel at 03.00am,in the pouring rain, as the coach refused to drop of us outside the hotel.
When we checked in they told us they were fully booked in the minos, and we were to go to the Royal. How can they be over booked when booked 15 months ago.
The room we were given had no air connection and we noisy from the rain banging on a metal roof.
So no sleep the first morning.
We had breakfast and then went to see reception. A very pleasant receptionist told us to wait until management came.
At approximately 09.30 a lady came to see us and said we could not move back to the minos.
We phoned the representative of Olympic holiday who then spoke to the hotel.
We were shown 2rooms in the minos and eventually moved into the minos at 01.00 after 24 hours travelling.
The rest of the holiday was fine, the food was excellent and the staff were brilliant.
However we were told on departure that we had to go 300 meters to the end of the road and wait by the BP garage.
The bus arrived on the other side of the road and the road was very dangerous to cross. The bus driver was shouting for us to cross the road and it was very dangerous. Why could the bus not go to the entrance of the hotel.
One day there will be a nasty accident. This should be addressed
Thanks to the ypunporter who helped us with our cases

2nd visit to the Lovely hotel, amazing food, comfortable beds rooms with air conditioning and balcony. Pool clean and tidy and is cleaned everyday.Beach is literally a two minute walk away just past the Pool. Rooms cleaned everyday by friendly staff. Pool bar staff, Maria,Manos and nicos are very friendly and really know the people staying there after a few days even knew what we were drinking. Reception staff bitsy is so helpful and friendly and takes the time to ask how you are. Mangerment of all levels speak to you when they see you around. We made friends there last year and met them out there again this year and our friend group has grown and planning to meet all of us again next year.Sunsets on the beach are a must. Can not fault the hotel in any way. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going you will not be disappointed.

Staff rude, pool snacks amounted to shortbread biscuits. Numerous clashes with reception and bar staff. 2 hotels within same campus… essentially felt like second class citizens. My son and his friend aged 15 liked it.. slept all day, loafed about all night. All inclusive food was limited but ok compared to previous experience. Rooms nice. Cleaning staff helpful. Reception and bar staff need to improve their ideas of customer service

I expected more. The pool area and the beach was great and clean. Our room was nice with nice view. The food was ok but every day very similar and a little bit boring. It felt like the staff at the pool bar didn't like their job. I was waiting for long time my drinks even if nobody else was around. I didn't get any smile! Lunch time and the dinner time was awful. Staff was cleaning our table too fast. We weren't even ready and getting some more drinks and suddenly our food was gone.
