Sitting behind a quiet stone façade in the genuine and unpretentious medieval village of Caunes-Minervois lays a well-preserved 15- 16th century Renaissance Italian Palazzo – the Hotel d’Alibert. It all seems very appropriate for the owner Frederic Guiraud, a true Renaissance man. He has certainly keeps the spirit of the place alive. Locally he’s known as Fredo – “If you... More

Had a wonderful time, beautiful food and wonderful surroundings.Awesome wine selection and super friendly staff. Frederic, the owner makes it a point to vet all his clients, (French Basil Fawlty) some may take him the wrong way but what a character, Only place I will stay when next in Caunes-Minervois.

As our extremely gracious and helpful host, Frédérc, said of Hotel d'Alibert, she truly is an "old girl." Cliche aside, the hotel is a very, very enchanting stone building from the 16th century. With its winding staircase, thick stone walls, courtyard with wishing well, art-filled dining room with large fireplace and hearth where Frédéric made fires on cool evenings, great... More

Had a wonderful stay at this 16th century unique hotel. The medieval village is so peaceful and we felt like we had gone back in time in this lovely historic building. We stayed a very large, comfortable room overlooking the square which Frederick told us used to be his great grandmother's room. He was an excellent host. Be sure to... More

Stayed for one night after visiting Carcassonne. This is a unique hotel/restaurant in an historic area, and it dates back 6 centuries. The rooms are large and clean with everything you need but are not necessarily luxurious. However, the experience of staying in such a lovely unique hotel in the quaint village of Caunes-Minervois is one of a kind. There... More

We stayed in a nearby village and were recommended Hotel d'Alibert as a great place to have dinner. It was. We went three times and the food was excellent. Frederic is an excellent host, full of fun and very, very efficient in looking after his guests single handed. Highly recommended.

We've stayed here three times now and each time it doesn't disappoint, we've decided this village and hotel are the perfect stopover on the way to Provence (Avignon, Sablet etc.). This time we had three rooms, two had been recently renovated, once faced the courtyard and was just perfect. It was simple, clean and welcoming. The second renovated room faced... More

My husband and I spent two nights at this hotel in August 2015 and loved it! The owner was great; he gave us restaurant recommendations in town and advised us on what to do in the area (we visited the "gorge-ous" town of Minerve and a local lake since it was quite hot when we were visiting). As other reviewers... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel D’Alibert with another couple for 5 nights in October. The hotel and restaurant are well run and very comfortable but what made this stay a memory was the owner, Frederic himself. Before we even arrived he assisted us in obtaining a private tour of a local winery. We arrived at 8:30 p.m. tired... More

Caunes Minervois is a small enough village for travellers to park on the main road and ask any of the locals for directions to the hotel. It's signposted in any case. And it's opposite La Mairie. Frederic the owner won't be there between 2 & 5 pm so try to checkin outside these hours. He will show you to the... More
