We booked this for 3 days and we were Not disappointed, this place is a little oasis of peace, the setting is so peaceful and lush. The accommodation is as expected, it’s not a 5 star hotel but it is very clean and tidy with air con and fans. What makes this place is the staff, they are exceptional, they are so attentive. The food and drink is reasonable, a beer costs about £3 and a main meal is around £6. We didn’t see any monkeys or orangatan but we were just next door to the sanctuary. We loved our stay!
This nature resort is like nothing I’ve experienced before - you really feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle but with the comfort of gorgeous rooms, a restaurant and easily accessible excursions on your doorstep. The perfect spot if you’re looking to visit the Orangutan sanctuary, the sun bear sanctuary or the rainforest discovery centre. Tours to these destinations (and others) can be booked at the resort for a good price. In my opinion, the people make the place and the people here are absolutely lovely and so happy to welcome visitors and share their local knowledge and stories. Big shout out to Rule who took great care of us at the resort. If you are looking for a driver for the day to show you sandakan (be sure to check out Sim Sim) then Sahar is your guy - he can be contacted on WhatsApp +60 11 4048 5579. Sahar is another brilliant local full of knowledge and recommendations. The resort itself is magical - the sounds and sights and breathtaking. I would highly recommend a stay here and I would love to come back. Just, wow!…
We had a beautiful stay at Sepilok Nature Resort. Staff is really friendly and very helpful. It’s clean and the rooms look stunning! Best friendly driver - Anzar (call: 017-821 7605 📞) who brought us to Labuk Bay and made sure we didn’t go home without seeing the Proboscis Monkeys, Hornbill and Silvered Leaf Monkeys. He also dropped us off for lunch at an amazing local fish restaurant (ikan bakar) for lunch! The Orangutan’s Rehabilitation Center is walking distance from the resort. I would recommend this places to everyone!
We spent two nights here and we’re so impressed with how nice the rooms were and the new bathrooms were huge. There was a large rain shower plus a separate modern free standing tub. The air conditioning and refrigerator were a big plus too. The beds were super comfortable too. Proximity to the Rainforest Discovery Center, orangutan rehabilitation center, sun bear center and probiscus monkey facility was perfect. Especially we appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. One thing I have to mention is the great food. You will really appreciate the great food and selection at this place. Once we got to some of the other lodges on the River part of our trip and saw the mediocre food offerings we missed Sepilok Nature Resort even more! This is a great place to stay.…
By far exceeded any standards we were expecting. The room was large, private and quiet (except of course for the sound of nature). The food was really good but the outstanding feature of this resort is the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. A huge shout out to our waitress Sharly who made us feel so welcome. The resort is next door to the orang-utan sanctuary and about twenty minutes walk from the discovery centre (turn left just after the forest research building). Really enjoyed our stay.
Stayed here for 3 nights in total and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the common areas were lovely to relax in. WiFi only available in the common areas and was a bit patchy when we were there. Food was nice, and overall the place had a lovely feel to it, would happily return.
This resort is on very nice location. Only 500 mtrs from the orang utang sanctuary. The rooms are big, clean and well equiped. The food is very good. The staff is very friendly and hellpfull. We had a marvelous stad.
A nice and relaxing place near the orang utan place in sepilok. Love the terrace near the lake to relax in. The rooms were huge and a huge relief after 2 nights in the wilderness in Sukau. There was a mini fridge, very basic toiletries, a safe, hammock, and electricity was continous (not a gurantee in sandakan). People were very nice and i would stay here again if I were to visit Sandakan again.
We didn’t have very high expectations for this place but were pleasantly surprised. It’s a little tranquil sanctuary with lots of wildlife around, including orangs! The cabins are a little dated but very comfortable & spacious. And private considering. The staff were attentive & friendly and the food was excellent. We loved sitting in the hanging chair overlooking the lake with a cocktail after a day at the rehab centre. It’s a 5 minute walk from the resort so a perfect location. We went in the down season so I imagine this place gets busy in high season & may feel different. But we loved it! Very reasonably priced for the lovely experience and you really feel like you’re waking up in the jungle.
Stayed in room 17 which was the furthest from reception overlooking the lake. the room had windows on all sides with blinds and curtains. there was decking to sit on and a hammock. there was a wet room with a shower and toilet with a basin in the bedroom. The room was large with a wooden floor. Insecticide spray was provided. A glass of beer and a glass of wine were 26 Ringgits each. A bottle of Chilean red wine was 120 Ringgits. A 6% service/tax charge was added to meals in the restaurant. The hotel is used by tour groups as overnight accommodation and some groups stop for meals
