We recently stayed at the Sepilok Nature Resort for 3 nights and can’t recommend it highly enough - the staff, service, rooms and proximity to orangutans and sun bear sanctuaries is second to none. We wanted somewhere close to the orangutans, as it’s not guaranteed to see them. This meant we could walk there morning and afternoon to see the feedings and maximize our sightings (and we were not disappointed). It’s about a 500m walk to both sanctuaries! The rooms were good, clean and air conditioned. The food was also very good - the traditional Malaysian dishes were a standout! Big shout out to Fellamon and the rest of the staff, they were always fantastic and friendly. They made our stay wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend it to anyone wanting to see the orangutans and sun bears. Given this resort is in the rainforest, it exceeded our expectations.

This place was amazing and would recommend to anyone. We stayed here for 3 nights which felt like a good amount of time. One day we spent going to the orangutan and sun bear sanctuary’s and the other day we booked on to the river cruise. Rooms are lovely with good air con and fan, modern bathroom, seating area and hammock. Alcoholic drinks are a bit on the pricey side about 13RM for a can of beer and 25RM for glass of wine or bottle of beer but we found this is quite standard across hotels in Malaysia/Borneo anyway. So little tip we brought some drinks with us from our stay in Sandakan to have in our room. Food prices are reasonable about 25/30RM for main meal which are of good size. Would recommend the pizza, noddles or fish curry. All the staff including housekeeping to restaurant staff were always smiley and friendly we especially had a good experience with the tour guides. Would recommend the night walk which is 60RM each and a good experience. We trekked through the forest around the resort in the dark which made it exciting (and a bit scary!). We also went on the kinabatangan river cruise where we got to see an orangutan and her baby in the wild alongside other rare animals. It’s on the pricy side but we thought it was a one in a life time opportunity! there were only 3 of us so felt like a private tour. If you don’t like cockroaches don’t chose the option where you go to the cave as well. They also offer a taxi service to and from the airport however grab taxi is available in the area which works out significantly cheaper. Overall a fantastic stay!

This place was fantastic. A real treat. The photographs on here don't do it justice. Beautiful setting, immaculate rooms and excellent location (a few minutes walk from the Orangutan sanctuary). A definite highlight.

Beautiful, in the middle of nowhere, very peaceful and quiet. Spacious rooms and lovely surroundings. Food and drinks alright, not sure I liked the breakfast. The feeling of the jungle is present throughout the excellent outdoor nature (man-made ?). Great way to relax in a 5 star environment close to the jungle.

Peaceful and quiet. Set on the banks of a small lake this was one of the most laid-back locations for a hotel that I have ever stayed in. It felt like you were 'part' of the jungle, the only noise came from the inhabitants. There were numerous birds, butterflies, lizards to watch and the vegetation was sublime. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was also very good. Recommended.
