We had not eaten a meal at The Bull for a long time, although when they had a good carvery at lunchtime we went often. It changed hands, has been modernised, and today we had a very good meal, that wasn't dear. In fact because we were all over 55yrs old, they didn't charge us for the Peach Melbas, A... More

Stayed here for one night, the room was large and mostly clean.... I say mostly because the kettle was limescale city, needed cleaning, or probably replacing, anyway really didn't fancy a morning coffee out of it. We dined here in the evening and had two lovely homemade meals. The pie my husband chose looked particularly delicious, he said the the... More

Found the hotel to be good value and clean. Sevice at breakfast was fine but menu limited to mainly full english. Only downside was motel annexe sperate from restaurant which would be inconvenient in poor weather.

We stayed here during a recent visit to Downton. We had booked a double room with en-suite and some friends had booked the annex, containing a double and a twin room. The en-suite was definitely not en-suite! We had a spacious room (with twin beds) and our bathroom was down the corridor. Allegedly this was for our use only but... More

My wife and stayed at the Bull Hotel and found the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but adequate. Would I say there again, probably not and agree with the majority of the recent reviews.

Friendly helpful staff. Happy to have our breakfast served early for us to make an early appointment. Good food. That's all that was good. Our room overlooked the rear car park. Kept awake by what sounded like an extraction fan hum (assumed from kitchen), however it went on all night. Woken very early by the pub's empty bottles being binned.... More

We called in for lunch on our way back from Stonehenge, and were served by a friendly chap who made us feel welcome. The food was good and the price was reasonable. The lunch experience was fine and I told the waiter so, adding that I would give them a mention on this site. Really surprised by all the negative... More

Dirty, disgusting, smelly pub with revolting clientele who think that using the bathroom with the toilet door open is acceptable? Chef stood behind the counter eating scraps of meat whilst serving customers, if this doesn't put you off then what will? We left...

Ok to be fair they have started a band night on Fridays, but it just seems that no matter how many owners this pub has, it stays empty. Sunday roasts are the exception and they are very good......but the rest of the week is a ghost ship. Been in a few times and never been smiled at by the staff......it... More

I booked a table for 6 here for Saturday lunch time well in advance for my mums 65th birthday. When we arrived we were directed to our table which turned out to be half of a window space and 3 random chairs on the other side. There was a dirty glass on our table and no reserve sign. When a...
