We stayed in one of the pool rooms and it was fantastic. A bit of a splurge but a fun treat. They don't let you cook in the room even though there is a kitchenette. Also, in the spring the AC wasn't on and so we had to leave the door open, would be very dangerous with small children sleeping with ready access to the pool..,

CYC+c ( 20.05.31 ) The hotel's shape was like sail boat, and located at the top of cliff. So there had good view, and several facility to rest. The walking road was good to rest, and many sculpture made there more beautiful. The hotel was well managed, and good mood. The room was good to us. Overall, there was very good to rest with good view. But for the smoker, there was cruel because the smoking area was too far from hotel.

My husband and I booked this hotel for the coming weekend. We currently live in Korea and just wanted to do a little get away weekend. We actually prepaid the room via invoice because they were unable to accept a US credit card. Yesterday, my husband received an email stating that they were not honoring our reservation as they are no longer accepting foreigners at the resort due to the Coronavirus!!! Yet the travel websites are still offering rooms and for about 1/4th of the price that we prepaid. We have no idea how the hotel is planning on reimbursing us for the room since my husband went to their housebank and paid it into their account. I am just flabbergasted.

No denying it’s a very impressive building but definitely the most unfriendly place we stayed during our whole holiday in holiday in Korea in fact we cut our visit short forfeiting one night and returned to Seoul. Jeongdongjin was also the most boring town we visited. The staff are just efficient polite robots, no one seems cheerful or ever smiles. The reception staff were miserable and unwelcoming, they wouldn’t even put a stamped postcard in the mail for us. (Our next budget hotel did so with a smile). There is no access to street level other than a long winding walk around the rear of the hotel down a steep road without a footpath or waiting for the bus that runs every two hours despite there being an adjoining wing called the Sun Sea - with elevator access to street level. Guests from that wing are free to travel along the corridor to the Sun Cruise because the management are happy to have them spend their money in the shop, bar and restaurant. However guests from the Sun Cruise are prohibited from entering the sun sea to take advantage of their elevator to street level and the beach. The restaurant is very expensive! There is a 30% discount only on Korean food to dissuade Koreans from eating in town. There is no discount on western food because there is no western food competition in town. The breakfast is also expensive 20k won (including residents discount) (£13) it’s a good buffet breakfast - at least it would be if it was kept hot properly - everything had either gone cold or was only luke warm. The bar is a kool revolving room with good views but the choice of drinks is very limited and there is no atmosphere mainly due to the sullen bar tenders. Although our room was clean the communal areas were not so, the windows were dirty on the inside with kid’s handprints and the seats in the reception area were all dirty and stained.

Pro’s: Look of hotel, gorgeous, room- spacious and (mostly)clean, views stunning, bakery downstairs nice and not too expensive, price of room in general very reasonable, statue garden and grounds are lovely to look at and wander. We loved feeding the fish and you can buy fish food from reception. The little grocery downstairs was useful as we ended up eating most of our food in the room. There is a paid for foot path to the next town over that starts from the car park. The sunrise view was great and it was wonderful to have a room with a part garden and part sea view. Cons inside the room: Sheets have several holes in them. Condo- no bathrobes slippers toothbrush etc No kettle (even if you request one) tea, coffee or water, (but we had a rice cooker, microwave and pots and pans which makes no sense). The pots and pans were dirty as was the stove. We were instructed that if we wanted a kettle we needed to change to a hotel room and not the condo room that we booked and he suggested we boil our water for tea in the pot that smelled like bulgogi beef with a dirty lid. No shower curtain so water goes everywhere! More Cons: The two ships you see in ALL the promotional photos are actually two different hotels owned by the same company. The cruise ship protruding from the hill is Sun Cruise. The other, is Beach Cruise. If you are staying in Sun Cruise you cannot gain access to Beach Cruise Hotel and this includes the elevator to the beach. Even though they are connected by a beautiful glass walkway. Instead, guests from Sun Cruise are invited to wait for the 2 hourly bus or walk down and up the enormously steep hill with no pedestrian pavement if you want to go to the beach or town. It is very hilly and steep and hugely unsafe to suggest guests walk on the road and risk getting hit by the huge volume of buses and cars. Not only is this unsafe, but this is an epic pain in the behind. Also the last bus is at 6.30 pm so you can’t have dinner and a drink in the town and then catch the last bus as it is too early. It’s impossible to flag a taxi as we didn’t see any. If there was no option this would be fine, but it is extremely irritating as Sun Beach resort has a beautiful glass elevator which goes from the beach right up to the walkway but we couldn’t use it. I read a review that stated you could walk down to the beach by a stairway from the garden, but it is closed off and in bad repair. You can only get to the little glass viewing platform, but no further. No indoor swimming pool despite pictures stating this on CTRIP and Agoda. The outdoor swimming pool is only half full and closed for winter. The indoor pool pictures belongs to Beach Cruise and again we weren’t allowed to go. So effectively, this hotel has NO pool! Upon closer inspection the statue garden is a death trap. Signs in Korean tell you not to lean on handrails as you’ll plunge down the 200 foot hill. Walkways are rotten and have exposed nails sticking out. A cute metal replica ship with gorgeous views has a rope sectioning it off as presumably that too is unsafe. The yacht trip mentioned in the welcome sheet given to us at reception is not running in the winter months. If it isn’t running then reprint the sheet with accurate information or cross it off. The buffet breakfast quoted as 20,000 (£13) is not running but you can pay 24,000 (£16) for 2 eggs, toast, coffee and orange juice or a similarly limited korean set breakfast. Not that it was the hotel’s fault, but due to forest fires we had to evacuate the hotel at 1am on our last morning. This was a complete shambles, as there were no warnings or instructions in English. We only woke up to a loud Korean announcements in the hallway and the lights going out. If I hadn’t looked out the window and seen the fire very close, we wouldn’t have know what to do. We phoned reception but it was engaged. Everyone else had cars and could just drive away, while the bus the receptionist told us was coming never came. She did eventually phone a taxi for us after all the Korean guests were seen to so we did make it to safety by being driven to the next town and waiting on a hard bench for 6 hours in the middle of the night. No one from the hotel ever contacted us to make sure that we got out safely or offered compensation for the unexpected taxi ride or the fact we didn’t have a full day’s use of the room. Surely if you evacuate the hotel there should be some sort of protocol and at least check that your guests are alive after you threw them out in the middle of the night. Despite all of the above, we had an ok few days here. Part of why we enjoyed it so much was because it is early April so it is very quiet and overall it was fine. This hotel however does not deserve a 5* rating other than for its outward appearance. I think people should be aware what they are getting so they aren’t surprised. If we came back we would not stay here again.

The room was very clean with a branded amenities and has both floor heating and aircon. The view was also amazing. I couldn't get up early in the morning to watch sunrise but it would have been something only if I was able to. The hotel reception has a little notice where it shows sunrise and sunset time. Make sure to visit a short walk-away behind the hotel area.

Good facilities - newly renovated lobby, forecourt and rooms as well as new carpet in the corridors. However, management needs improvement. We called in advance for a baby cot and the hotel told us that it cannot be pre-arranged, it must be arranged on check-in, in person. We got a late check-out but the front desk called on the day of the check-out asking why we hadn't checked out on the original time. The shower facilities are not divided from the rest of the bathroom meaning that a shower will result in a completely wet bathroom.

Visited this place 25.08.2018-26.08.2018 so much romance in one place is a crime: fish in the pond, silence, white statues, pool with sea view and insanely beautiful sunrise. Of the minuses: no robes, 1 pair slippers, no tothpaste and tothbrush, all bathroom accessories in the large containers, therefore the move from one guest to another

Booked a private transport that took us 3 hrs from Seoul to reach this unique hotel. Like what many reviewers here said, the main building is under a major refurbishment and hence were given rooms at the new wing. Really really nice rooms. So spacious and all rooms are facing the sea. We woke up really (4am) early tp catch the famous sun rise from our balcony. We stayed for two nights. Advance booking of the rooms weren’t easy. Easier to book through Agoda, Expedia websites etc (one month prior to arrival month) as the hotel does not accept just any credit cards booking over the phone. Also, the room rates are only provided one month before your arrival month. If u attempt to make advance reservations through Agoda for eg, it might be reflected as not available. Be sure to book only one month in advance. Only one restaurant in the new wing. Bf spread was so so. Lunch and dinner menu was not bad. Views were fantastic. Hotel guest all had a complimentary yacht ride when weather permits. Hotel staff were polite and though command in English not that good but they tried their best to help. Overall, great stay and experience with Sun Cruise Resort.
