The location is in a nice gated area. The property has lots of space and green areas and the rooms are nicely distributed across the property in -what I saw- villas of 3-4 guest rooms. Every villa has a small pool, however the pool is not so convenient, as it has no umbrellas and the pool area is not so welcoming to stay and relax. The room (ours was a deluxe room), is super clean and had all amenities and electro domestics needed: iron, microwave, coffee machine, fridge.. etc. Really, the room is GREAT! The breakfast mmh.. is not nice. Accommodation includes continental breakfast, that we knew, however they serve a couple of slides of fruits and croissants and they remark every day that if you need something extra you need to pay for it. For the price of the accommodation, they should include some more breakfast, or better, no breakfast at all, as it is annoying to see such as small breakfast served and the willingness to sell something in addition. We saw the same discomfort from other guests. The resort has no beach. It has agreements with the some beach bars to give sunbeds for free, however the nicest that is right next to the hotel, you need to pay 15eur per person per day to get a sunbed. Esmeralda should include this in the price per night and offer it to the guests. Otherwise you need to walk and find other beach clubs where they will offer you a "second line" sunbed for free. The Orient Beach is SUPER windy, it is wide and large and beautiful, however is soo windy that sometimes is not easy to stay for long at the beach. Summary: Super nice accommodation, not convenient breakfast and beach.…
This is a return visit for us approximately 10 times. The units are not new or lavish but the showers are always hot with lots of pressure. The huge bed had soft comfortable linens and the air conditioning worked. The continental breakfast was simple with fruit and pastries but additional menu available at a price. Esmeralda is approximately a 10 minute walk to the restaurant village where you have the option of at least a dozen restaurants. A dinner out would be comparable to Toronto price. They deal in US and euros. Beach at the end of property has changed hands and no longer appeals to us older folk, but we are able to go next door on beach and enjoy their lounges with beach service. It will be nice when St.Martin airport is finally completed because leaving was a nightmare. 3 hours of 5 different lineups. If Covid stays under control we will definitely return next year and of course Esmeralda would be our choice.…
The beach is beautiful and enjoyed the restaurant on site. The room was clean but definitely not 4 star accommodations. We could hear conversations and more from the adjoining unit. We were definitely disappointed and would not return and would not recommend.
A great location. The villas were clean, quiet and perfect for relaxing for a beach vacation. Every one of the staff, EVERYONE, was friendly and very helpful. A nice restaurant on the compound and a group of good restaurants a short walk down the road or beach. When I return to Saint Martin, I will stay here again.
We have been to St Martin 10 times and this was our second stay at Esmeralda. The first being in 2017, so we were interested to see how the resort had recovered from the hurricane. They have done a very nice job in restoring the property but they are not quite done. Still a few bungalows to go. Making the reservation through their website was quick and easy. As part of the reservation, we requested the same room that we had last time and they were able to accommodate. Check in was quick and easy. Don't know if the building was damaged in the storm but it looked exactly as it did 5 years ago - clean, bright and well appointed. The continental breakfast was OK. Coffee, juice, fruit and breads. We love the location and feel of the hotel and beach. There is nothing between the hotel and the beach and the walk is about 100 yards from the middle of the resort to the beach on paved walkways. Beautiful. The beach is much quieter that some of the places on down the beach. It has a much more European feel to it. I would estimate that the clientele is 50% Canadian, 30% European and 20% American. Mostly French being spoken on the beach. 2 chairs and an umbrella are $30/day. The food and drinks are great. If you are looking for tasteful and relaxing resort, Esmeralda fits the bill.…
This location is perfect, especially if you are traveling with adults rather than small children. The area food is upscale, the waves are huge and the crowd is older so young kids may not enjoy it as much. The hotel is totally adequate, especially if you are here to enjoy the view rather than your room.
We had 2 excellent weeks in January 2022 at Esmeralda Resort. The staff is fabulous… Bene’, Theodora,Gaiten Rogers and Claudie! All so friendly and helpful!! The room was great, immaculate and beautiful. Housekeeping did a terrific job every day! The grounds are magnificent and well manicured. Breakfast was delicious every morning at the Resort’s restaurant L’Astrolabe. We love Esmeralda and can’t wait to return!👏💖
Great location on the French side of the island. Nice breakfast included. Short walk to and from the beach. In the evening, dine at the restaurant located across the street from reception or take a short stroll to restaurant row. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
We had a wonderful week at Esmeralda. From the moment we drove up to the beautifully landscaped property, we knew we'd found a little slice of heaven. The staff is charming, and couldn't have been more helpful. We even received a nice thank-you gift on our departure. Our unit was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and overlooked our own pool. We could walk to the beach and restaurants. L'Astrolabe is fabulous, and I'll review that elsewhere. For me, one of the highlights was the adorable, friendly kittens who dropped by hoping for a snack (they got one). Everything was super laid-back and designed for relaxation. We'll be back!
Well, let's start with the positives. Great location next to Orient beach and assorted restaurants in the Orient Bay complex, nice expansive property, on site restaurant makes great lobster special dinner. Moving on to not so good, accommodations are in cottages each composed of 3-4 units most if not all have connecting doors. Fine if you are with a family otherwise you may exposed to listening to full blast sports network program through the door in early hours of the morning. Our room was rather dated with what looked like 80's vintage furniture. Arrived at the reception around 2.00 pm travelling from a neighbouring island, upon which an officious (if not arrogant) young man took a highlighter to our paper reservation underlining a sentence stating check in is 3:00 pm without even bothering to check if any units were free. Thankfully a female colleague rectified that. Have been coming to St. Martin for years but not sure if this is a return to property. …
