Guests enjoy the peaceful surroundings and a cordial, pampering yet unobtrusive on-site multi-lingual staff prepared to assist with any special needs. We just returned back home from our 6th stay at Esmeralda Resort. This was our first return visit since Hurricane Irma devastated the island. Both physically and visually, Esmeralda looks very well considering what it suffered in the way of storm damage. During my walks around

We had a great 2-week stay at Esmeralda. As others have noted, the facility consists of a series of buildings across the property, each of which has 4 suites in a townhouse-style layout, and each building has its own private swimming pool. The room we were in was large and

We stayed here for 2 weeks January 2-16. Resort looks fabulous! All of their hard work after Hurricane Irma has paid off. Our room was immaculate, housekeeping does a fabulous job! The landscaping crew has well maintained all of the property. So happy to hear that CoCo beach

Esmeralda is still a great place to stay on St. Martin. The rooms are clean, the service is good, the location is unbeatable. We have stayed here many times, and were concerned about how well they had recovered following Hurricane Irma in Sep 2017. Overall, they have come back

The hotel is clean, the staff lovely and the food excellent. It’s close to the beach and though they took a hit from Irma, the beach is in good shape. It was hard not to notice all of the feral cats. Many were starving, so not unlike other folks who’ve stayed there before, I

Esmeralda Resort is scheduled to be re-opening on November 1, 2018. Astrolabe restaurant is also expected to be open on that same date. Coco Beach bar/restaurant was destroyed. The last update I got from friends in Orient Bay was that the owners want to rebuild, but they were still going through the process of settling insurance claims. That was back in April and I doubt that much would have progressed since then. La Plantation has partially re-opened up while rebuilding is under way still. Beaches are open, but chairs and umbrellas are NOT available currently. A few of the restaurants in Orient Bay Village have re-opened. I am friends with the owner of Le Piment and they re-opened back in April. La Table D' Antoine and Cote Plages are the only other two restaurants that I know are open. I'm told a few of the businesses along the main road in OBV are open, but it's less than 50%. The local market, Petit Casino, is still closed up. According to an island blogger that I follow, none of the beach bars are open and only one is in the process of rebuilding, currently. Since beach side businesses were wiped out, there is little in the way of activities to enjoy and equipment to rent. Go to La Plantation's website as they have a link to click on which gives an update of their facility and some information about the beach, tennis courts and restaurants. You can select ENGLISH and the website will open up a translated window.

The resort is normally closed during the month of September, so there were no guests to evacuate. There are multiple travel website forums that have been sharing information about Irma damage. I've read that the resort is roughly 75-85% damaged. I have seen a few posted photos and videos which do show damage. The Coco Beach bar and restaurant was leveled to the cement foundation and everything is quite bare and exposed with having the palm trees gone. Their website has not been updated with any information.
