Stayed in the hotel sadly only for one night. Other family members stayed for three nights. All found it to be well maintained, clean, and above all peaceful. We also ate in the restaurant which has a fantastic selection on offer and the meal was delicious. Very close to the sea, 5 mins in a car to Whitby, and has... More

A high quality, friendly, family run hotel at Sandsend, near Whitby. Very comfortable bright and spacious rooms with comfortable beds. The restaurant is also very good with a nice menu. However the wine list was somewhat limited with most of the advertised wines unavailable.

A very peaceful location, not too far from Whitby. Our room was a reasonable size , comfortable king size bed , ensuite was adequate. A few things could be improved ie a towel rail that actually heats up , breakfast served before 9 am and more local information leaflets. Before our stay we had difficulty contacting the owner , phone... More

I would highly recommend this place and give it top marks. We had the ensuite room which was beautiful, bright and extremely clean. The bed was so comfortable, there was Sky TV, a small kettle with coffee and tea, shampoo, soap and soft, thick towels in the bathroom. The bathroom was lovely too and the shower is huge and modern.... More

This is our second stay at The Woodlands and we were not disappointed. New owner, new hotel layout and new format still as good as ever! We did not have an evening meal but we wished we had because the menu was amazing with very reasonable prices. We will be back.

This was a lovely place to stay. It's situation in Sandsend is great. Very picturesque! The owner was really friendly and the food that she cooks is delicious. We had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast was good too! The room was large, airy and nicely decorated. Thanks!!

Stayed here for one night but would thoroughly recommend! From the tasteful decor, comfortable bed and Egyptian cotton bedding to the perfectly cooked breakfast. The hotel is in a lovely peaceful setting. We didn't get to explore the woods as they were closed for pheasant season but Caroline pointed us in the direction of a fantastic walk over the cliff...
