Wonderful peaceful location, plenty wildlife in the nearby woodlands. Short walk to the sea, quiet little village within a short drive to Whitby. Rooms are comfortable but the best thing is the welcome atmosphere, that and the food! Recommended

Gorgeous location in a wooded valley but only a short distance from the sea. We had a very friendly welcome. The bedroom was very comfortable, the shower was amazing and the bedding silky smooth. The breakfast was delicious. We only stayed one night but would have liked longer. I can't comment on dinner as we only ate breakfast. Recommended.

Booked a birthday meal with my wife in this small boutique style hotel - located in the picturesque village of Sandsend, Whitby. Very fresh clean and relaxing restaurant and bar area. We had drinks in the bar before an excellent 3 course meal. Every option on the menu seemed tempting. Food was gorgeous. Although we were not staying at the... More

Situated at the end of small inlet, some 3 minute walk from the sea, the Woodlands Hotel is the place to stay if you want excellent service, spacious bedrooms and superb food. Situated 4 or so miles from the bustling fishing town of Whitby, where it is said Bram Stoker based his Dracula stories, the hotel is set in its... More

Stayed in the family room, which I wouldn't normally do as I like my space, but it was plenty big enough with a king sized and 2 single beds, with a double chair, Sky tv and free wifi. Really nice bedding and decor and decent sized bathroom with shower over the bath. Plenty of room for the wife and I,... More

We were welcomed by name at the door. This small (only 4 rooms) hotel is situated in a peaceful location (quite hard to find) in a beach area not far from Whitby. Our room (room 4) was beautifully and comfortably furnished with tea/coffee, bottled water. We had to ask for toiletries but that was an oversight. Great shower in bathroom.... More

The hotel was very nice in lovely surroundings. But there was no sign post at the end of a narrow road so made it hard to find. There wasn't a door bell to attract attention when you arrive so had to go in search for someone. The room was comfortable with great views of the woods very peaceful. However it... More

A really relaxing break in the beautiful and very spacious family room. Fabulous food-particularly the parfait at dinner and gorgeous breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. We were made very welcome and our little boy (aged nearly 2) loved it. Already booked our next visit. Thank you Caroline!

We have been trying to get to this restaurant for some time now, but unfortunately our visit with two friends was disappointing to say the least. Food was very average and the service was very lacking. The waitress acted as though she was just not interested and wanted to be anywhere but serving us. We constantly had to ask for... More
