We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in an oceanfront bungalow.
The resort has a luxury summer camp feel, and the bungalow was lovely, clean and we woke up to the most exquisite views that you can enjoy from a hammock.
Food here is good, but not really to my taste. It's a set menu most evenings and I'm a fussy eater - so this is on me, not them. Lunch is á la carte and so that was my favourite meal of the day, although I appreciate the remoteness of the hotel makes it difficult to offer á la carte all the time.
The pool looked clean and relaxing, and the surrounding areas are a lush green natural paradise. Staff here are all wonderful and so attentive and warm, going out of their way to make your time special.
My only advice for your stay in Raiatea would be to hire a car. We took the hotel transfer which was only slightly less than car hire, but it meant that we didn't really see much of the island or sample any other restaurants. We did go for a walk on one of the days, but after two and a half hours we hadn't seen another person and I was dying for a drink so we had to hike the two and a half hour trek back. A car would have been nice to explore a bit further.
A wonderful small hotel on the beautiful island of Raiatea. Very nice bungalows facing the lagoon allowing you to witness the majestic sunrise in the morning. The hotel is managed by Eric and Alice who will do everything to ensure you have a pleasant stay with tailored recommendations for outings and activities. The staff is very professional and friendly and you always get service with a smile. The restaurant is excellent - every evening is a gourmet delight. My wife and I enjoyed our 3 night stay and we highly recommend this hotel!
I can't say enough about my experience at the hotel. From the moment I was picked up to when I left, everyone one and everything was done with warmth and friendliness. The staff was outstanding.
The cottages are quite simply lovely, from the push-out plantation shutters, the light cotton netting about the beds, the hammock on the front porch, the super large bath area...the interiors are just what I hoped for on a South Pacific island. My stay was broken up by a cruise, so I experienced a ocean view cottage as well as the pool view..Def try to get the ocean view..the cottages have the same decor, but ah the view!!
The restaurant is a culinary delight, each day different choices for the day, presentation was beautiful..The breakfasts often included local island jams, fresh pastries, several varieties of fruit and good coffee or tea.
Because the hotel is about 30-40 minutes away from the town and airport, I would suggest renting a car from the airport as I love to explore and ended up getting a car through the hotel, which was fine, price was reasonable for the 2.5 days I used it . If your intent is to stay put, there are certainly things to do....the kayaks, a courtesy motor boat drive to the small motu for snorkeling...or simply sitting on the porch reading.
I rated this as a mid-range as compared to something like an Intercontiinental and such, but for this island, I would say higher end. This will be my " go-to" hotel on Raiatea.
The location of the hotel is great! Very close to the Marae, one of the must-see in Raiatea, and on the beach. Lost in greenery, the hotel bungalows stand out with their white walls and pale blue roof. It makes for a pretty picturesque hotel. The owners greeted us personally and were extremely welcoming. Everything is well maintained, from the swimming pool and its lounge chairs to the private bungalows, restaurant and pathways. The white of the bungalows is unusual in French Polynesia but it makes for a very classy look. Everything in it was white wood. Each bungalow boasts a private deck with lounge chairs and a hammock and ours had a view of the swimming pool. Everything you could possibly need was there (bathroom amenities, tv, WiFi, small fridge, mosquito nets). Even though the hotel was full, it still felt very private, no big crowds and very quiet. The restaurant in particular was amazing: scrumptious food made on sight and very nicely presented! Compliments to the chef and cooks...
The hotel can also arrange tours for you, which is very convenient.
I highly recommend going to the Opoa Beach hotel if you're going to be staying in Raiatea.
The room was lovely and spacious. The food was excellent French and local cuisine that was very reasonably priced. There were also plenty of excursions that were quite fun. The beach is small, but nice.
OPOA BEACH HOTEL *** is situated on the South of the Island of Raiatea, the >. Hidden in the middle of a dense forest, the hotel is found on the side of the lagoon with a fine sand beach and great views of the …Morelagoon, > motu, the coral reef and some fabulous sunrise over Huahine.
