Finca Esperanza Verde is one of the most incredible places I have ever been, and it's calling me back already! This breathtaking organic coffee farm and Eco Lodge effortlessly blends its pristine natural environment with tasteful designs to give you a full, real ecotourism experience. You are supporting a place that is setting the bar on how to truly combine wildlife conservation, sustainable energy practices, community development and cultural tourism in meaningful ways. You will feel at home in such a unique setting that allows you to recharge when you need and explore when you feel up for an adventure. The local staff took incredible care of me, often going above and beyond (delicious farm-to-table meals, knowledgable and caring nature guides, etc.), and my sweet little cabin was very comfortable with stunning views of the cloud forest. Everything about FEV made my experience nothing short of magical - the howler monkeys in the morning, the incredible cup of shade-grown coffee direct from the farm and its loving caretakers, the bright and caring staff always there to make your stay the absolute best experience, the wonderful owner who cares deeply about her Nicaraguan community and making a positive impact, the fresh spring water for drinking and that runs the hydro-powered electricity, swinging in the hammocks with a glass of wine to watch spectacular sunsets at the end of each day... I could go on and on. If you want to find a place that is truly special and untouched by the world, go to FEV. You will find peace when you need it out hiking the trails and sitting by the waterfalls. You will learn so much about the amazing work of local coffee farmers and their labor of love to keep their soil healthy. You will revel in breathing fresh air as toucans, motmots, hummingbirds and so many other gorgeous native birds fly around you all day. You certainly won't regret taking the trek up to this highlands oasis. Like me, you will likely keep dreaming of the day you can come back. Until next time, FEV. Thank you for being such a gift in my life. P.S. - It was a childhood dream to see a sloth in the wild… and I got to see several!!!…
Finca Esperanza Verde is easily one of the most magical places I've ever been. Of course, the vibrant nature is a wonder in and of itself and the Finca does well to enhance it without interrupting it. Everything from the privacy of the lodging, all equipped with spectacular views, to the friendly staff, who did everything they could to help us see nature, arrange transport, accommodate our diets, and answer our incessant questions about Nica, made the experience ever more enjoyable.
This was one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I’ve ever experienced. Delicious home grown coffee is available all day with gorgeous vistas and trails through the cloud forest. Vivianne and her team are the best. (If you plan on driving yourself, definitely rent a 4x4! We barely made it in our small car.)
Finca was an amazing experience! Views for days, friendly and helpful owners and staff, delicious food (vegans, veggies and meat eaters all satisfied!), and amazing wildlife. It is so peaceful and special. Don’t miss it!
One of the best expérience!! Good food, confortable rooms, amazing staff!!!! An eco way to discover coffee route and an important part en f Nicaragua! I strongly recomand this place!!! You can relax, do hicking, cooking class!!
All the sounds from the birds, and howler monkeys are amazing. Beautiful sunsets from the veranda overlooking the mountains. The view spreads over the coffee farm and cloud forest. Hiking trails onsite with view of waterfall, birds, and occasional sloth.
The setting is fantastic, the buildings are clearly sustainable, the food was excellent and the mountain air was refreshing. I enjoyed hiking to one of the waterfalls. It was delightful to watch the hummingbirds compete for use of the feeders right off the dining area. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn the process of making tortillas all the way from the corn cobs.
Beautifully appointed lodge. Cabins rustic but clean and well designed. No hot water or electrical outlets in cabins. However, two bathrooms in my three bunk bed cabin. Hot water in shower building. Lots of electrical outlets in library. Family meals, wonderful American hostess, lovely peaceful lounge. Amazing views from anywhere on the property. So much to learn about how to grow things sustainably and organically right on the farm. Not really easy to get to and all cabins are a walk up hill.
A great place to unwind and enjoy the connection to nature. Excellent staff as well. It obviously is not fancy, as it is supposed to be ecologically responsible and simple. In addition they work closely with a non-profit called Sister Communities of San Ramon which has done great things for the San Ramon community. It was a lovely week.
Heading up the road to FEV, you'll know you're not in Kansas anymore! Remote and beautiful. Rustic but comfortable. Great food and friendly staff. Learn about coffee growing and production. Hiking, waterfalls, birds, butterflies, and more. Ecologically responsible. Relaxing. What more could you want?
