Hotel looks ordinary but the room and bathroom very clean. However the star attractions were the lovely friendly Swedish receptionist and the very talented chef. The dinner was excellent. We stayed two nights and had super food. Highly recommended
The hotel has a strategic position to visit Vesteralen and Lofoten Islands. They are renovating the reception and restaurant areas choosing a modern and cosy style. Staff is kind and attentive. The restaurant offers a good variety of meals at competitive prices.
Overall poor quality, especially compared to price. The overall service was poor, with inattentive staff. During dinner, they didn't manage to serve everyone at the table at the same time. Sadly, there's really no good alternatives if you're going to Melbu.
Melbu hotel itself is Ok. But expect some physical exercise getting your luggage to your room. The restaurant was Ok. Ask for local beer. Staff were very helpfull and service-minded. However it would appear that most employies are expats. Nothing wrong with that but how long they stay at the hotel and get to know the area is anybodys guess. After a good breakfast you just pop down to your rented car or the bus and minutes later you are aboard the Fiskebol ferry.
The location is good. However, this does not compensate for the run-down and outdated atmosphere, inattentive staff and unappetizing food. The place gives more the impression of a youth hostel than a hotel and should be avoided. At EUR 120 or more for a single room, it’s a complete rip-off. Should you be forced to stay there on a rainy night with absolutely no other alternative, you are recommended to avoid room 240 at any cost. It is located right above a narrow passageway to the parking lot. During my stay there, several busloads of guests started hauling rolling suitcases on the pavement right under the room from 5:30 a.m. and onwards, making noise comparable to a freight train in a tunnel. Further sleep was out of the question. The management showed no interest in addressing the problem. If room 240 is the only available, you are well advised to spend the night in a bus shelter or under a railway bridge instead. The noise and discomfort is quite comparable, but comes cheaper.…
this hotel is perfectly located, right across the ferry that will take you across to other places in Lofoten. although I was there is summer there is absolutely nothing to do in Melbu - just stare and be amazed by the amazing, stunning surroundings. the food at the hotel (dinner & breakfast was quite poor) and the restaurant lacks atmosphere.
Me and some friends arrived at 2330 and we checked in and asked where we could get some food. The lady in the reception offered to make sandwiches or pizza for us, which we didnt expect at all! She made us really happy and the pizza was yummy. The room was nice, clean and big. I really liked the waterboiler and the Coffee, tea and hot chocolate which was inside the room for free. They also have a fridge in the room, that was a really nice surprise. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was good. If Im going in this direction again, Im gonna book here again :-)
Just in front of Hurtigruten landing, this hotel is perfectly located on Vesteralen Islands. The hotel staff is very attentive. compared to Norwegian standard. If you manage to get dinner, the fish is the best you will find anywhere in Norway, and for a price you will not find nowhere in that country. And it must be the only hotel in Norway where you find eight or more cheese variations for breakfeast
I stayed at this hotel for a couple of days during a business trip. I slept well, but the rooms felt old. Clean but old. I only had one dinner during my stay, and i avoided the breakfast. I found it unappealing. The staff where polite and welcoming!
I spent two nights at Melbu Hotel during a business trip. The room was clean but felt a bit old, worn out and looked horrible, but I guess that is a matter of taste. The location is great - right next to the ferry terminal. Breakfast, lunch and dinner where terrible. The breakfast buffet felt really cheap and uninviting. Lunch and dinner was the same. Why serve nachos, pasta and lasagna when you have access to so much great local produce? I just don't get that at all. Especially since the nachos, pasta and lasagna is the worst I have ever been served. The service was okay, but I was not blown away to say the least.
