Having decided against eating at the Kings Head (ignored by barman and Status Quo playing) we returned to the Buck. Despite being fully booked the lovely landlady found us a table, and we enjoyed a delicious sirloin steak, cooked exactly as ordered, with proper mushrooms, tomatoes, largest onion rings in the world and fab chips. No wonder the Buck is... More

We booked a party of 15 for an evening meal and were seated together in the spacious dining room which was very light and airy. Every single person really enjoyed their food - from Liver & Onions to the absolutely 'To Die For' Steak Pie (with extra gravy!). It was so delicious, we all went back adhoc the next day... More

Rally good value for money stay. Friendly, nice and helpful staff, everything clean and comfortable and a substantial and tasty evening meal after a long walk. Situated in a beautiful dales village and ideal for walkers. Would definitely use again.

We stayed there during our C2C. The lobby smells, the rooms have not been updated in years...peeling wall-paper, dust every where, terrible old mattress. The bathroom was cleaner and large but the shower was impossible to operate!

We stayed here whilst it was the Ard Rock Enduro competition weekend. I was lucky enough to find a room on Air BnB due to a cancellation. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Buck Hotel is a former Coaching Inn which dates from circa 1760 and is located at the village of Reeth's main cross roads and where a turnpike was in operation two centuries ago. The C2C goes past the front door, so the Buck is very popular with walkers. The Buck retains its traditional oak beamed bar with interesting horse brasses and an amazing collection of door knockers! Plus the tour de France passed the front door in 2014 so has now become very popular with cyclists. With an excellent reputation for real ales and ciders the Buck has been awarded the 2015/16 Cask Marque [for quality Real ales] and is featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2015.There is a good and varied menu with daily specials, which includes everything from Steaks to Fish & Chips and Game when in season. If you like a whisky, there are over 50 to choose from and the wine list is very popular. Dogs are welcome and there is overnight storage for cylcles. With a roaring log fire, the Buck offers the genuine Yorkshire welcome. ... more   less
