I was really looking forward to staying at the Thalia rooms guest house based upon the reviews but I have to caution all future guests about the apparent OCD issues with the owner "Thalia" --- I booked 2 nights on Hotels.com (I used hotels.com because of their customer support & receiving (1) free night after 10 bookings). However, I know the respective hotels and guest houses do not like it when guests use them because of the heavy % cut from their profits. 1) Thalia sent me (3) SMS and (2) emails "reconfirming" my reservation - stating that "she wanted to ensure that I knew my bedroom was small" --- ok......??? Why even post this online if you have reconfirm that your guest knows that the bed is small. Its extra work and pisses the guests off. 2) I told her to NOT contact me anymore and that I would be there the next day. 3) She unilaterally cancelled my booking on hotels.com and stated she could get me a "better rate" This is a clear example of how NOT to give customer service. I called the Gold Line @ Hotels.com and explained to them my situation and they cleared it up. I'm sure the room was just fine but Thalia didn't have the patience nor the integrity to uphold my reservation when I booked it AND reconfirmed it. Thalia maybe consider not sending a barrage of emails and SMS and take chill pill. My recommendation - stay elsewhere -----…
A very comfortable accommodation situated in an ideal location. Perfect for touring the area and visiting the amazing monasteries. A well equipped shared kitchen/dining area, which works well for either the individual rooms or if friends and family are sharing the whole house.
Thalia guest rooms is well located but a little tricky to find if one arrives at night. It is very clean and comfortable but just a little cosy, which is fine for a few nights stay especially relative to the cost. We had the downstairs room. There is also a little kitchenette downstairs where one can help themselves to tea and coffee making facilities as well as the cooktop and washer. Thalia herself was very prompt and accurate with all communication. Maps of the area were provided and her recommendation for monastaries to visit and where to eat were all excellent. I would not hesitate to come back again. Meteora is gourgeous. As for the reviews saying breakfast was included, I think people from different languages are not understanding what is written.
We stayed for 4 nights. We had a vey enjoyable stay in Thalia's Rooms, she herself is a warm and friendly person and gave us a warm welcome. There are 3 rooms, we had one upstairs which had a great view and was impeccably clean. The room itself is a little small , especially the bathroom but has everything you need, the bed is very comfortable. Give yourself time to do Meteora and not just 1 or 2 days. The restaurant Gardenia which Thalia recommends is also a friendly and good place. Kastrik is certainly quieter and more quaint than Kalambanka.
This review has been long overdue, a little more than 2 years i think. but still this cozy place makes me smile when i think about it. Its right next to the rock , the view is absolutely stunning. The streets are quite and peaceful, the Owner, Thalia she is an absolute Gem. She helped, guided and always ensured the stay was as per our satisfaction. i would stay here without a doubt the next time i make it to Meteora.
