After reading the review of Juan's rural houses in Antrialgo we decided that we would book it. First of all, it is very difficult to choose which house to book as they are all so beautifully decorated. We ended up choosing to stay in Lus Vega cottage which was very well kitted out for all your needs. The 2 bedrooms are a great size with plenty of plug sockets, and tasteful decoration. We spent many an evening sitting at the kitchen table enjoying all the beautiful local cheese, wine & bread that you can pick up at the amazing sunday market at Cangas de Onis which is a short bus journey away. The houses are pretty rural but there is an excellent restaurant literally 2 mins walk down the road @ La Posada. The food in the restaurant there is absolutely amazing and we'd highly recommend a visit or two - to be honest, once you go there, you will return! It was a shame that we left it so late in our holiday to visit the restaurant, otherwise we would have been back there on many more occasions - don't be fooled by the closed doors either, while it may look closed because the door is closed, it is open during the opening times indicated outside. Juan the owner of the houses was so helpful to me, giving me details of local taxi drivers, which places were good to visit and for what - such as Arriodas (where Juan was born) for Kayaking down the river, or horseriding, which he offered to arrange for us & also drinking the local cider & has two Michelin star restaurants! In the house is an amazing book which has all the information you need. If you stay, it is easy to visit many places. Antrialgo is a great base in which to explore various places, we visited Llanes (lovely beaches & town), Ribadasella (Lovely town, nice walking around the seaside bay), Cangas Di Onis (amazing bargains & many cheeses & asturian food to be had at the Sunday market), wonderful walks along the riverside into the mountains, Oviedo beautiful city (and fab restaurants on Gascona with food to tantalise anyone with large portions, so visit hungry) & last and but not least Gijon, a wonderful city with nice beaches, botanical gardens, good food, we ate at Michelin Star restaurant Agua and we could have stayed a bit longer here as it's a big place to explore ... . Juan's houses are set up slightly into the hillside, so when you sit in the lawned front garden you have the most breathtaking & wonderful views of mountains & fields. We enjoyed seeing all the wild spring flowers and walking the Camin A. It was so nice to see so many animals with their new born. Villamayor is where the Feve train is located which is a single gauge rail which runs a few services to all the places listed above. We used just public transport and got around easily. I would highly recommend Juan's houses to everyone. There a all different sizes, and they are such brilliant value. We were supposed to go to Leon on the last couple of days but cancelled it as we loved where we were ! If you are reading this review Juan, thank you to you and Anna for all your help and the wonderful stay that we had at Lus Vega / Antrialgo :o)

After reading a fascinating article in The Telegraph written by Annie Bennet I decided to contact a Spanish gentleman and entrepreneur called Juan Otero. From the first e-mail that I sent to Juan, the owner of these idyllic rural cottages in the north of Spain, I became sure that this would be the perfect place to enjoy my holidays. I organized my trip by getting my tickets through the Easyjet website from London to Asturias Airport which were very cheap. Once there, I rented a car and drove to the Cottages in Antrialgo. Along the way, we stopped in a quaint little Pub in which we could enjoy the Asturian traditional food in a warm environment. We experienced the same customs as the native people: cider, fabada and some more Asturian dishes and the Asturian people engaged with us for being lovers of this country. We arrived to Antrialgo at nine o'clock , and Juan was waiting for us in the middle of the bridge which crosses the river. We settled in the Lin de Pepa house and had a look at the brochure of recommendations provided by Juan in order to organize our activities for the week. I went to Lagos de Covadonga, Ribadesella, Oviedo and I spent a lot of time in the surrounding area. This gorgeous landscape inspired me to recommend Asturias and these houses to my friends as a place to take into account if they are thinking of an unforgottable holiday. I hope to visit Asturias more times. While, I took with me a piece of this land and I'll spread the word of a fantastic experience.

We rented this gorgeous house in Antrialgo for five nights and just loved it. The house name is Casa Caseros and it belongs to the complex, Huerta San Benito. Prior to arriving we had corresponded heavily with the owner Juan Otero. He couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. We ran very late due to leaving Leon later than plan and then getting lost on our way to the home - it is really out in the country. However, this was no problem for Juan. He waited up to give us our keys and greet us. He showed us the house, explaining how he and his family have lovingly built them with every accommodation and the pride he has in his development is obvious. When we came back to the house on our first day, he had left us a bottle of local cider. The house was gorgeous. The stone and woodwork were the typical Asturian fashion and was painted a beautiful shade of magenta. Each room had a theme and was decorated impeccably. I became quite fond of the "English bathroom" and used it exclusively! I slept in a room with fabulous pink walls and the view from it would take my breath away every morning. Other features include a kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc., a washer, television (which we never watched but you might), a coffee press and large refrigerator. For five nights, it cost each of us (five in total) 100 Euros each. Where on earth could you find such luxury at such a price?
