Place looks nicely cared for on the outside. Booked for dinner last Saturday. A joke. Around 40/50 seats in restaurant - one table occupied by 4. Menu bland and 30 years out of date. Of 4 starters, only one was interesting but 'didn't have'. 'Specials' menu featured omelette & chips! Of 5 red wines on list, only 2 were available.... More

What a shame. A local down the end of my road and I already know I won't be back. Shabby and tired and not very welcoming It's in a prime location for lots of passing trade, good parking but let's itself down

Stayed for 2 nights, bathroom was filthy, especially the floor, since there was hair and dust everywhere. Breakfast was included, however not breathtakingly good. Friday night was VERY loud, the bed was vibrating from the music downstairs. The bed itself was quite narrow, 1.20 m perhaps. The rooms itself are nice, the building is beautiful, the place has a lot... More

Went with friends on Saturday. Food clearly all prepared from frozen as it was tasteless and bland. Heard from another guest that his complaint was taken badly by the lady owner who was rude and dismissive. Recommend you find somewhere else not here

The meals at this pub are really bad. Where do I start I had Fish & Chips, the batter on the fish was sweet to the taste, the fish still had its skin on it also. The chips were lots of little bits of chips like you would find in the bottom of a frozen chip bag. I complained to... More

One must remember that this is a very old property so don't compare with the modern inns. O.k so the carpets could do with a little t.l.c as some of the decor, but the suburb breakfast and the friendly manager, locals made our stay very pleasant.

As others have said this place is filthy. No proper locks on the room doors, just 4 button mechanical key pads. In bedroom with thump of juke box from downstairs. Difficult to get any luggage up stairs and through the fire door which needs two hands to operate key pad and open. Small uncomfortable bed from ikea or similar. It... More

There are very few times I've walked into a pub on a Friday lunchtime and found it totally devoid of any customers. Yes, instinct should have told us to walk out again. The barmaid and the one other staff member we saw were friendly enough and well meaning but appear to have little experience in working in a pub. We... More

Stayed here before visiting friends the next day. Room was very clean & spacious enough for what was needed. Arrived after a long journey and contradictory to other reviews I found the landlady very accommodating, and even went out there way to serve me a bar snack despite arriving after food had stopped being served. Breakfast was more than enough... More

Went for Sunday carvery after seeing a notice board outside advertising 2 courses ( carvery and a dessert ) for £10.50. Walking in to the pub was like walking into the smelliest public toilets probably worst! Staff sat at tables with the few locals no one stood behind the bar no welcome whatsoever. Went through to the restaurant to be... More
