Six of us stayed here four nights and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff, super comfortable large beds. Good food, and great location. To compensate for all the great food we had been eating in Spain we set off one morning before it got really hot and climbed the mountain to the east. Found a track that went to the "cross... More

Firstly, you have to know that there are quite a steps to carry your luggage up. There's a free public car park located off the road below the hotel, ideal if you can get a space. Then it's a matter of getting your gear up the stairs to the hotel. Once there we were warmly welcomed , formalities completed, taken... More

Eccentric hotel in old castle. Nicd breakfast if you're not in a hurry. Make sure you don't get booked into La Cigarra which has no windows into the bedroom but has a long, narrow adjacent sitting room with an opening window. Lots of dogs barking outside.

We loved Laguardia which is the perfect base to visit the Rioja. The hotel perches on the city wall overlooking the vineyards. Our room was huge and very comfortable - great bed and bathroom - with a window looking out to an avenue of trees and the countryside beyond. However although still a storey above ground given the position of... More

Quite possibly it is. Wonderful location, beautiful room, good view, spacious and well equiped bathroom, every detail well taken care of - including ample electrical outlets and a wellcome bottle of wine. My only caveat - you can't parc close to the hotel and you must climb some 20 stairs to reach it.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Castillo El Collado – the staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was cosy, spacious and clean and the breakfast among the best we had during our stay in Spain. I would definitely stay at this lovely, small hotel again. Try out the restaurant as well – great wines and... More

This is a four star place - not two. The only issue is the location which is far (and uphill from parking). No worries though - the staff is wonderful and will take your bags all the way to the hotel from the road. Great place, people, rooms, breakfast, restaurant, location (in the old city). Stay here - you will... More

This hotel is full of character but lacks the polish of some hotels we have stayed at in Spain. The bedrooms were large we originally booked into the Neptuno bedroom which had a spa bath but the shower unit had no facility to hook it onto the wall which made it difficult for my wife to wash her hair. So... More

This was our first tour of the Basque Country and this small hotel set in the old town of Laguardia was the most characterful and charming of all the places we stayed. The restaurant (for both breakfast and dinner) was excellent, and the little extra touches like the complimentary bottle of wine in the room were much appreciated. It was... More

this is my second stay at the castle. Both visits were delightfully mesmerizing! Dinner at the castle was ..... unbelievable! We were the only dinner guests that night and had an entire staff at our disposal. Service aside, the oxtail were over the top!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A castle from the begining of the 19th century and restored in 1996. It has ten rooms and each one is named after an influential person of Laguardia and the Kingdom of Navarra. The decoration of the castle is an example of good taste and sobriety, not missing the fine elegance that enraptures visitors, who come here to spend their time in this idyllic and harmounious paradise with beautiful views full of the local colour. There are three very old function rooms decorated with Arabian ceramics and handcrafted coffered ceiling from the beginning of the 19th century worthy of note. Your expectations to enjoy the extensive menu of traditional dishes from the Basque and La Rioja cuisine will come true. The symphony of light from these handcrafted rooms will leave you with a feeling of tranquility and appreciation of art. ... more   less
