We were in Newcastleton for the music festival and Copshaw Common Riding weekend. The whole village was busy with festival goers so we decided to eat out on the Thursday before it got really busy and the pub was working on a reduced menu. We both had the steak and ale pie. It was really tasty, piping hot and came... More

This place was recommended to us so we thought we would give it a go. We didn't expect much as the venue itself is a little dated, however the food was amazing, had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.

Tomas, the chef is very friendly & helpful & his food excellent. All six of us ate well with not one complaint. Loved the home-made steak & ale pie. We even got a lovely glass of Polish liqueur at the end. How nice is that? Would highly recommend.

We were the only two in the restaurant side for most of the time we were there so very very quiet (midweek evening) but the food was tasty and even though the selection of vegetarian items in the menu were small, the staff were very... We enjoyed our meals. There was a warm welcome and a roaring log fire. Not many in on a wet Thursday evening and we were served quickly by the lady behind the bar. A real plus is that dogs are allowed in the public bar so we could take him in while we ate. There is a posher dog free... More

First time visit to this wee village. Ate at this hotel last night. Not too keen on pubs with football on in background but thought give food a try. We sat down and bar person said chef would take our order which was a bit surprising thought the chef would b too busy in kitchen. Waited a wee while so... More

My wife and I determined that we would eat in this hotel because we had heard good reviews. It seems the chef likes to come and take the orders however, after about 20 minutes the barmaid came over our order because chef was busy! Not the most cheery barmaid but our order was taken. All we ordered was 2 steak... More
