We arrived slightly earlier than planned but the staff were wonderfully accommodating. The food was lovely, the chef came out to talk to us about the specials. All served really quickly and really tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive and it was really good value for money.

My wife and I showed up unannounced on 2 October and had a fantastic dining experience. We had a friendly welcome from the bar steward who said that the chef would come and tell us about the specials. The personal touch was to the fore. The chef was charming and offered an extensive choice. I had the roast pork with... More

We went there with friends for an evening meal and we all enjoyed it. We did have to wait a little while because it was very busy but the atmosphere was amenable. Towards the end of our meal the chef came through to find out if we enjoyed our food - a nice touch I thought.

We were in Newcastleton for the music festival and Copshaw Common Riding weekend. The whole village was busy with festival goers so we decided to eat out on the Thursday before it got really busy and the pub was working on a reduced menu. We both had the steak and ale pie. It was really tasty, piping hot and came... More

This place was recommended to us so we thought we would give it a go. We didn't expect much as the venue itself is a little dated, however the food was amazing, had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.

Tomas, the chef is very friendly & helpful & his food excellent. All six of us ate well with not one complaint. Loved the home-made steak & ale pie. We even got a lovely glass of Polish liqueur at the end. How nice is that? Would highly recommend.

Stopped by for an evening meal as staying locally on an outdoors break... Warm welcome. We were the only two in the restaurant side for most of the time we were there so very very quiet (midweek evening) but the food was tasty and even though the selection of vegetarian items in the menu were small, the staff were very... We enjoyed our meals. There was a warm welcome and a roaring log fire. Not many in on a wet Thursday evening and we were served quickly by the lady behind the bar. A real plus is that dogs are allowed in the public bar so we could take him in while we ate. There is a posher dog free... More

First time visit to this wee village. Ate at this hotel last night. Not too keen on pubs with football on in background but thought give food a try. We sat down and bar person said chef would take our order which was a bit surprising thought the chef would b too busy in kitchen. Waited a wee while so... More
