We arrived at the hotel for a 3 night stay and was surprised to see how lovely the reception area was. We were checked in promptly and showed to our room. Unfortunately our room was no bigger than Harry potters cupboard under the stairs, although the room was very clean. We loved eating in in restaurant so much that we ate there for all 3 nights of our stay. Jack the waiter was fantastic and we really appreciated everything he did for us. The restaurant manager was lovely also and we really enjoyed chatting to everyone. Sadly the downfall was the manager of the hotel. We arrived back from the Beach one day to find there was no car parking spaces available and were rudely told by reception “oh just park on the side of the road”. I asked if she was being serious and she said she would get the manager. He walked out and said we couldn’t park were we had as it was a fire exit, I said I know I’m just waiting here until you find us someone to park? He advised it is a first come first serve basis as a lot of people come to eat at the restaurant who are not residents of the hotel. At this point a car was leaving so the manager said “ oh just park it there now” So beware…. You may not get a parking space and have to find somewhere on someone’s driveway! Would return to eat the restaurant but not to stay.…
We stayed for a week. Didn't know what to expect, but wow what a great hotel. All the staff work so hard and nothing was a problem for them. The room was perfect, nice and clean ,and very spacious. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Would also like to say how helpful Maggie the waitress was (totally loved her sense of humour). Will definitely be going again. Well done to the Cliff Hotel.
Checked in on 29/07/21 and upon walking into the room was hit with an awful stench of urine. Rude and unhelpful receptionist refused to change our room and housekeeping manager stated she had a very poor sense of smell. Unhelpful all round. The door was open when we arrived which was suspicious but it was clear the previous guests or a passer by had urinated on the carpet. Nice location but this incident really affected our view of the hotel.
We made a booking via open table in advance of our holiday for The Muse Restaurant within The Cliff Hotel. Upon arrival we were told that there had been a wedding so the restaurant was not available yet and if we found the manager he ‘would sort us out’. We did find the manager and we were seated in the main restaurant and largely ignored. No apology just told that as we had booked online that’s why we hadn’t been updated. We had menu problems as our daughter is vegan abs the portion for her was sold out and it seemed too much for them to cook a tomato sauce to stir through some pasta. We were eventually re seated in the Muse. We were given a bottle of tap water but had to ask for glasses. The drinks we ordered took over half an hour to receive. A meal was eventually sorted for our daughter and have to say all of the food was delicious abs served very hot. Just a shame that the service was so bad.…
Two days before our 37th wedding anniversary my husband went in to the reception at the Cliff Hotel to specifically book a table for breakfast in the restaurant, not the bar, for our special day. The receptionist assured him that would be fine, duly made the booking for us, and we looked forward to a sumptuous breakfast. We arrived, did the track and trace, a made our way to the restaurant as directed by the receptionist. A member of staff confirmed our booking and told us to go to the bar for breakfast. My husband explained that he had specifically booked the restaurant as we have had breakfast in the bar before and didn’t like that area to eat in. We were told they don’t do ‘walk ins’ and the restaurant was for residents only. However, as we had booked, we were not ‘walk ins’. An exchange of words ensued, and we were asked again why we didn’t want to eat in the bar. It was very embarrassing to say the least as the room was quite full and people were watching the situation unfold. We decided that even if they did find us a table, we wouldn’t waste our time eating there, and left the building feeling very upset and angry - never to return! We have had breakfast in the restaurant before without booking with no problem at all. We have previously had several nice meals at the Cliff and always leave positive reviews for the food, service etc., but not this time. My husband contacted the management on social media to complain, and was told that someone from the management would contact him within 24 hours, this was on 30th June 2021 - he is still waiting for a response, surprise, surprise! I would not recommend, and thank you employees of the Cliff for making our anniversary memorable for all the wrong reasons.…
