Located not on the loop line of Tokyo, but still very close to the city center (Asakusa, Ueno). Around 5-7 minutes to the station of JR and metro. Very cozy, cool design of the common rooms and helpful and welcoming staff! Rooms are equipped with TV and air conditioning, but don't forget that shower is 100 yen per 5 minutes...

The hostel was clean and the staff was helpful when I asked them to accept a parcel for me that arrived before I did. As other have mentioned, the showers cost 100¥ per five minutes of use. The manager, Raoul, claims that this is to conserve water but all the guests know that it's just a way to squeeze out...

I stayed two nights in a single room, shared bathroom. The room was a good size for backpacker like I was, but maybe a bit small for those with suitcase. The bathroom was clean, we have to pay 100 yen for 5 min, but really simple and easy to use. Wifi worked really well both in the room and the...

I decided to stay at Aizuya Inn after a tip from a friend for the first week of a three week trip but have since made it my base for the rest of my travelling. I stayed in a single room which is tatami mats and a futon bed. This can seem a little hard if you're not used to...

Staff were incredibly friendly, breakfast in the morning was most welcome, the location was close enough that it was no more than 30 mins to anything in Tokyo but just far enough that it was quiet and peaceful at night. Highly Recommend!

This year was our second time staying at Aizuya Inn. The place is very welcoming, had a great time overall. It's very easy to get the train from the nearby station to pretty much anywhere in Tokyo. The only criticism I have is really playing ¥100 to use the shower

It takes ten mins if you walk from Minami-senju Station (Tokyo Metro & JR), so it's fine if you walk there without carrying luggage. If you carry luggage, it's going to be a bit (or much) more challenging. Also, it is not far from Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. It takes 20 mins by walking. The room is quite small since...

We have stayed here several times with our small children. We have traveled to Tokyo a dozen times and this is one of their favorite hotels there. No frills, simple, reasonable, excellent staff always willing to help in anyway possible and in a great spot near.really cool stuff in an authentic Japanese neighborhood. We will be back again for sure.

We stayed together with my friend in traditional Japaneese-style room/ I like this style. Two friges - one on each floor - it's very convenient. But there's something to improve. 1. It was very surprising not to find any salt in the kitchen. Pepper, other spices, a lot of soy-sauce but no salt. 2. A couple of clothes hangs more...

I have stayed with Aizuya Inn twice in the past 4 months, during my 6 month stay in Japan. Aizuya Inn is located near several nice neighborhoods and walking distance from the Skytree and Asakusa. The Hibiya subway line can take you quickly to the tokyo hotspots, so you are never far from your destination. Raoul and the other staff...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
