I think HMS Asakusabashi is perfectly located and a great price. We stayed one night and yes the room was small but it was what you would expect for Japan. My husband and I slept on a small double bed which was firm but overall ok. Everything worked in the room and the staff at the reception desk are friendly... More

Stayed here for a week at a reasonable cost. Great location a one minute walk from the station JR line to take you to Tokyo, Shinkinku and Shibuya in 15mins (Ideal for users of Japan rail pass). Some nights we even headed back to this area early to drink and eat in local places as we found the culture, prices... More

We have just spent two nights in this friendly, clean and conveniently situated Tokyo hotel. It was easy to find, being less than 100m from the Asakusabashi JR station. Our bags were stored until check in at 3pm, and the staff at all times in our interactions with them were friendly and helpful. All spoke good English, which was a... More

Could not be happier with this hotel. Travelled as a young couple, spending 7 nights in Tokyo, wanting something affordable and in a good location. This hotel is a two minute walk from Asakusabashi metro station, which operates on the Toei and JR lines, and is just a 10/15minute walk from Akhiabara. If you are travelling outside of Tokyo, it... Right by asakusabashi station, perfectly located to local eateries and stores and only a 15 minute walk into akihabara for gamers. The staff will help you find whatever you need - we wanted to find a cashpoint that accepted international cards as most local atm's only accept cards issued inside Japan. The hotel itself is very tidy and friendly with... More

That’s not all that defines this hotel but it’s how I will remember it. Its proximity to the elevated train station and the fact that the hotel is not a closed entity (the open stairs – visible on any exterior photo of the hotel – lead directly into the hallways from which the rooms are accessed) result in a rather... Stayed here for three nights while visiting Tokyo. Hotel was relatively easy to find, a 20-minute walk from Ueno station where the train from Narita airport stopped. This hotel is very close to the Asakusabashi station and the JR line, so it was convenient to travel to other destinations from here. There's a 24 hour convenience store attached to the hotel that we went to often. There's also a grocery store down the street. There are several restaurants and stores close by. It was a little hard... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
