Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

Right from the beginning let me just say if you're on the fence about staying here, absolutely give it a go. The staff are lovely and helpful, some quite fluent enough in English to make my poor attempts at Japanese unnecessary. The staff are an easy 10/10. The room, as you'll see from my photos, is small but the space is used very well indeed. Everything has its place and the only issue would be if you're extremely portly. Using the, ahem, facilities would be annoying. Aside from that, lovely. The place gets serious points for having a black out curtain that truly works. Slept in many days because the room was pitch black so I thought it was the wee hours when it… was not. It also has an in-room tablet. For the first couple of days I thought it was dead but found out it just had a dead battery and its cord was no good. Plugged one of my own in and was able to use it. Handy because it allows you to specify room cleaning. Do Not Disturb, Full clean or just change towels etc. Very nice. But yeah, they should change the USB cord! Sadly, the room let me down in two ways. One: air conditioning couldn't go lower than 19C! Due to the unseasonable warmth plus the fact we're on the eighth floor, it could be mighty warm! Need more cool air! Two: the TV. No smart capabilities or a readily available HDMI port to allow a guest's own device eg. Amazon Fire Stick. Bit of a shame, but something that could no doubt be easily changed by the next time I stay here because I'd certainly return. Lovely place. Near three train stations and really only a walk to Akiba which is pretty neat. The neighbourhood is fairly peaceful, a large old fashioned shopping Street runs behind the hotel and there are supermarkets, convenience stores and plenty of lovely places to eat. Certainly give this place a try, particularly if you have a good deal.

This is a great hotel! Brand-new, super clean and very comfortable this is the perfect place to stay in Tokyo. Yes it is a little out of the way from the tourist areas, but in a way that's s good thing. The surrounding area is quiet and safe and there's a metro station literally one minute walk around the corner...So literally you can get to anywhere in Tokyo hassle-free. The rooms aren't too small by Tokyo standards and are very clean and cosy. The receptionists are friendly and breakfast is adequate though the point system is a little confusing at first. There is a laundrette with two washing machines which cost 500¥ for a standard wash and dry cycle. The instructions are clear and easy to follow in English and you don't need to buy or add any washing powder as it's all included in the programme. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is pretty new and confortable, with a young modern atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are japanese standard which means small but made excellent use of the space. The Hotel has a great location in a quiet area, not far to the touristic places, close with the Toei Subway line (use Exit A2 Shin-Okachimachi) within less than 2 mins walk from the station, not far from JR Okachimachi station. Locals shopping arcade is nearby the hotel and there are plenty of restaurants nearby as well. If you like to walk, it is 15min walk to Ueno Park, or 20 min walk to Akihabara. Coffee, tea and perfumed water are free at any moment in the lobby. There is a 1000 yen voucher system with points you could be used for snacks as well as breakfast. The breakfast is mostly made of western food (I don’t see the point of eating western food in japan) and almost the same every day (only tried once but saw it every morning). It doesn't worth it. You can find nearby better and more genuine. Bad pop western music in the elevator and lobbies Only two laundry machines is unfortunately not enough.

Stayed here two nights. Hotel rooms are clean and convenient to the subway (3 mins walk) and JR station (10 mins walk). Hotel staff are very friendly. Hotel gives vouchers for breakfast which you redeem in their cafe. Breakfast doesn't have much selection. Cafe seating area is small.

Friendly staff upon check in. Comfortable mattress and the room is just about ok in terms of size (which is slightly on the small side generally in Tokyo). Breakfast was good with a points card which allowed you to choose whichever items you wished for a certain value. Ample points left! Would recommend to anybody staying in the Ueno area.
