Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

The hostel was very clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and it was in a good location for the ueno area. There was also free tea, coffee and washing powder. Would highly recommend a stay here.

We stayed 3 nights at triple room on this hotel .. the location is quite near from ueno station.. and we also can find convenience store nearby... the room is ok it consist of 1 bunkbed and 1 single bed we can open 2 large luggage at the same time.. minus from this room is they dont put any mirror inside the room.. so we need to go outside to find mirror on the sink to do our make up.. its more comfortable to do our makeup inside the room 😊

Was a comfortable hotel considering the size of the ensuite room. The bed filled the entire space w/ little room for luggage - but we had our own bathroom was was surprisingly large! The bed was really very comfortable and pillows too! Had a great night’s sleep, whihc was a nice surprise. Location-wise, It was a slightly longer walk from Ueno station, but the hotel was slightly cheaper. And the hotel is relatively new structure if that is important to anyone. And there were some local restaurants that were fun and quite hip in the surrounding neighborhood. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly.

Our family of four (2AD 2 older teenagers) stayed overnight, we really like the Ueno area and the hotel was very easy to find and a short walking distance from the Skyliner even with snowboard bags and luggage. Yes the rooms are small but equipped with everything you need, the USB chargers, lights and curtains at every bunk was fantastic, ultra clean facilities, comfy beds, friendly helpful staff, short walk to Ameyayokocho, great value for money. We left our snowboard bag with reception and could have quite easily left a another bag down there to save space in the room but there was honestly still enough room for us all.

Considering how expensive Japan is this was a very cheap hostel, I loved it here, initially only planned to stay her 2 nights but extended my stay to 5 nights. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much to ask. Definitely recommend for solo travellers or even if your travelling with friends. It’s close to everything. So very easy to get around. Next trip to Japan will definitely stay there again.
