Detailed Reviews
Dear Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro,
I would give you 4.7/5 because the hotel was impressive but one thing I would recommend to improve is the checkout time. This is because on the day of checkout, my flight was at 11pm but the lastest check out was at 11am which gave us a bit of inconvenience as we had to think of what to do with checking out that early!! But overall you were impressive. Now for the impressive part, the front desk offered to let us leave the luggage with them while we went for last minute shopping and tour. What else is good is that it is very convenient to get food there as there are so many convenient stores, restaurants and there is a shopping mall as well near the hotel. It is also near Ikebukuro train station and a underground shopping area which is linked to the train station. The nearest train station exit to the hotel is only 5 mins away by walking. The location of the hotel is great as the nearest train station also provide to go a lot of places as it is near to a lot of famous spots and the famous nightlife district Shinjuku. Shinjuku is only one station away from Ikebukuro by the JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line and the JR Saikyo Line. Shinjuku is also 4 stations away buy the JR Yamamote Line. Another famous spot it is near to is Shibuya Station and Shibuya Crossing. Shibuya is 2 stations away from Ikebukuro by the JR Saikyo and Shonan-Shinjuku Lines. And it is also 7 stations away by the JR Yamanote Line, the taxi fare there is 5090 JPY. Another one it is near to is Harajuku, Harajuku is 6 stations away and the only line that is used to go there is JR Yamanote Line. It is also nearer to Saitama Prefecture and no Shinkansen is required to go Saitama Prefecture from this part of Tokyo. I strongly recommend this place as a option for staying. This hotel is cheap as well. Thank you for the excellent service as well that the front desk gave as well.

Hotel is near ikebukuro station, lots of establishments around both for food and shopping. Room is old but still comfy and spacious enough. Towels sheets and toiletries are replaced everyday, like a full service hotel

I stayed for 7 nights on way to see family in OZ from the UK, my reason for choosing Sakura Ikebukuro was that I was stopping off to see my daughter who is doing a year at nearby Rikkyo University. The first thing is to say that there were very helpful reception staff who spoke good English. It's on a reasonably quiet street (for Tokyo). I stayed in a single room, there was a sign in the lobby that no visitors are allowed in rooms. I have no experience of Japanese hotels and was told they are generally very small, but this was fine, the bed was probably a small double, so generous for one. There was no cupboard space but some hooks on the wall to hang clothes, but that wasn't an issue for me. Below the window was a large shelf (with TV that I didn't use) and sockets to recharge my devices. There was an ensuite and the shower was over a small bath but plenty of hot water and good pressure. I took the breakfast option in the cafe across the road that was cheap but basic, thick white toast with butter and jam and coffee. You could buy yourself an extra boiled egg if you wanted one. I think my rating overall was a 4.5 but as that's not an option I've gone for the full 5 on the basis of how friendly and helpful the staff were. Overall good value for money for the single traveller.

Good choice for budget travellers. Staff is helpful and friendly. Restaurant across the street provides all-you-can-eat breakfast for JPY390/person, and consists of soup and toast. Bananas and boiled eggs available for extra JPY100.
Cleanliness, however, was not 100%. Found hair on bathroom walls and woven into the fuzzy blanket they provided.

I can to stay in the Sakura hotel ikebukurou for a study abroad summer trip and it was such an amazing stay. Ikebukuro is probably my favorite district of Tokyo-so many things to see, eat at, and shop-so I felt like I had a wonderful place on top of a lovely hotel experience. The staff were kind and could speak many languages so I didn’t feel nervous about asking for help. It was also an incredibly affordable stay and just so so comfortable. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a safe, inexpensive, and cute stay! Also there’s an adorable cafe across the street connected to the Sakura hotel so if you’re ever hungry and don’t want to go far you can always eat there and I just love it! Will truly miss this hotel and this country 🥹

The place is not too far from train station. Surrounded with 7-Eleven, Family Mart, cafe and restaurants. Nearby the department stores. All are ok for walking distance. But the bed is quite hard (single room), not sure if the bed in other room types are the same or not.

Thank you very much for your staying and comment. As you commented we located nearby the second biggest terminal Ikebukuro station. Ikebukuro is one of the busiest areas in Tokyo. It is very convenient for shopping, eating, and drinking. Is a privilege for us that you stay in our hotel, we should like to thank you for your kindness and hope to see you again in Tokyo. Best regards from all the Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro's front staff.

The staff here were so friendly! I had just moved to Japan from America and was worried that I wouldn't be able to make any friends, but as soon as I arrived the kind staff made me feel right at home and I became good friends with them over the two weeks that I was there. The cafe was super cozy and the food was really good. The whole hotel had a really nice atmosphere and great amenities. I'm embarrassed to admit that I actually shed a few tears when I left, because meeting such kind people after moving here alone knowing barely anyone in the country meant a lot to me.

Hihi, I just came back from my Japan trip with my family of 5, 2 adults , 3 children aged 13,10 and 9. We stayed at the Japanese style room together , with toilet and bathroom facilities. So this room will fit your requirement. However, Price wise ,it varies depending on your date of stay . For our stay from 01 June to 04 June for 3 nights, it cost S$641 JPY 49,128 . I book through booking dot cm you can also try to enquire directly with the hotel since your travel dates is still quite far away. From what I know, booking for Japan hotels usually starts 3months before. Hope this helps
Dear Karamina,
Thanks very much for your inquiry.
We have some different options of 3 persons room.
We have a Double room with extra bed (12,300 yen per night), too we have a Superior Double room with extra bed (14,400 yen per night) and finally we have too a Japanese tatami room with three futon beds, 16,950 yen per night.
All rooms is with private bathroom included.
If you have another question please don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards.
There are single shower rooms, not group showers, so they are quite private. Same for toilets, they have several individual rooms each with one toilet inside (toilets are very nice in Japan)
