Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.

Double room which we stayed was too small for two adults. There was no space to from bed to wall and we couldn't walk in the room. If the person is Claustrophobia,I strongly don't recommend to stay there.

Hotel's Favorite
Location was excellent and despite the room being very small in the Hollywood Twin, it was very comfortable and it had everything we needed. The beds were great. Staff were great and there were lots of places to eat nearby. If you have 2 large suitcases maybe get a different room, but if a small place doesn't bother you (I'm more a sleep only not longue in the hotel person) then this is great! Very reasonable prices.

Thank you for staying with us at APA Hotel <Tokyo Itabashi Ekimae>. We are glad that we could get such review from you.. The hotel is at 1-minute walk from JR Itabashi Station, and there are many restaurants around us. The room is designed to be comparatively compact to be functional. The guests can reach almost everything in room from a bed. We have two types of twin room. The one is Hollywood twin, the other is Deluxe twin. If you want to stay in larger room, we kindly advise you to book Deluxe twin. Thank you for your precious opinion this time. We are looking forward to seeing you again. Front Inoue

Would be good for solo travelers. Room barely fit x2 29-inch luggage, no walking space for two. No extra luggage stand upon request hence x1 of the luggage is on the floor. Overall the location is good as it is near the Itabashi station which barely takes 5 minutes to reach. A daily-mart located just 1 minute walked away. Will reconsider coming again.

Booked 2 smoking rooms at this hotel for a vacation with my 3 other friends. Made several communications through email, the staffs are responsive and clear in explaining. Arrived at the hotel around 9 PM, the front office staffs did all the work quickly so we could rest early. The hotel locations just right next small stations, but the line is connected to the major part of the city (Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya). The neighborhood of this hotel is housing area, so when the night falls, this area is very quiet, which we really love it after all the hustle and bustle of the city. There's a park nearby, a good place to hang out and have supper from mcdonald's or food from the convenience store. The hotel room itself is very small, just like other hotel rooms in Tokyo. The hotel is a bit old-ish. In overall the room is very clean, the bathroom is also clean and the amenities are complete. Love all the detail they put. Wi-fi connections are fast, but there were some kinks when new customers are coming. It seems the new customers are hogging the bandwidth so it made the connections a bit unstable. But overall I like this hotel, a good base for exploring the city.

It's a comfortable place to rest your head but don't expect friendly service. The rooms are clean enough but be careful when you book (especially through hotels.com) because if you're not careful you'll end up in a smoking room and they are terrible! The price is great and there are tons of great retardants and shops close by. This is a quiet, residential neighborhood and a great base to explore tokyo because after a day in the craziness that is Shibuya, Shinjuku or Ginza it's nice to escape.
