Kimi Ryokan offers value-for-money accommodations in an expensive city. It's clean, comfortable and staffed by warm and helpful staff. Like most Japanese ryokans, Kimi provides house slippers and Yukatas (Japanese house robes) for its guests. You really can't ask for more at that price. Our only complaint are the thin walls. We were located right next to the common bathroom...

Overall really clean although showers could be cleaner. Toilets and sink are modern and close to all the rooms. The area is about 25mins using the metro to get to Tokyo station which was fine. The staff are really nice and the owner is great - he walked us to a local sushi place down the road which was the...

Mixed feelings about Kimi Ryokan.. For some things it deserves four or even five points in the rating: it has a good value, the premises were very clean during our stay, and the kitchen with a big fridge to store your own items for e.g. breakfast was much appreciated by us, as was the ok wifi connection and the little...

stayed here for just one night on our arrival in japan. Everything about the hotel was spotless and the staff on reception were nice and helpful. It was nice to have wifi in our room and there was plenty to see in the area. would book again without hesitation.

I choosed to stay in this ryokan for all the positive reviews I found on this website, and I'm actually stunned to read that such an accommodation is considered excellent. My room was on the ground floor, it was really too small (I had just the space for my luggage on the floor), it had a bad smell, a mix...

This ryokan was just perfect for our trip. It's really comfortable, the staff is nice and it's well located nearby the subway. I just loved it! And it's nicer than the traditionnal hotel. I was afraid to sleep on japanese bed at first but it's great.

An easy place to get to from Ikebukuro Station, about 5 min walk. The staff were always very helpful! Reading some of the reviews weren't complimentary to Kimi I have to disagree with them. The showers were quite nice and always clean. Shampoo/Soap provided as well as toothbrushes and hairdryers. There was laundry facilities outside which were easy to use...

Very well located accommodation, heaps of great bars and eats in the immediate vicinity and access to lots of convenience stores. Close to JR station which provides easy access to Shibya, Shinjuku, Harajuki etc. As well as Ueno and Akihabara. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the hostel was in a back alley so it was very quiet. We had...

I really recommend the Kimi Ryokan to people visiting Tokyo. It caters mostly (almost entirely) to foreigners visiting Japan, but I did not find this to be a minus even though I study Japanese and am here mostly for the language. Lots of things make this the place you should stay. First of all, it is VERY affordable. You will...

I think the Kimi is ideally located in Ikebukuro about a 5 minute walk from the station. The service was very friendly and the staff helpful. They accept credit cards and have WiFi throughout building. There is also a PC with internet available. Also scales to weigh luggage. The room rates are very reasonable. I usually had breakfast at the...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
