Likes: Perfect location, extremely near by the train station, in the middle of anything you might need such as convenience store, Mc.D, Burger King, KFC, Pizza, it is near very delicious ramen kiosk in the lane behind the train station, many good tasting foods around, room is very small but very clean, have bathtub, electric closet, drinkable pet water, vending...

We were prepared for the size of the rooms from reading reviews but we were pleasantly surprised - yes, it was small but it was bright. As we spent most days sight seeing we usually went to bed as soon as we got back to the Hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The hotel is directly opposite...

A Japanese version of a nice American city hotel. Sunroute is a chain that knows how to keep its hotels nice. The location is good because you have both the Yamanote (circle) JR line AND the subway at the doorstep of this hotel. There is also a wide variety of places (including McD) for breakfast seconds away from the door....

I selcted this hotel considering the price and expecting the comfort for this money. The location is fine and convenient but the facilities in the hotel are not sufficient at least. The room are very small and wrost thing is that you can not open the doors so you dont get any fresh year. Actually I was feeling very sopicated...

So you were wondering what the life of a Japanese Sarariman is like. Get a single room in this hotel. It's small, but you can have a little bathtub deep enough to soak in hot water for a while just as the locals do. It's amazing what you can put into a room if you really plan how to use...

If you do your research, you will find that the Sunroute chain hotels are a business hotel. In Tokyo, this means small but clean rooms, good service, and few frills. I have stayed at two Sunroute hotels, the Takadanobaba location that I am reviewing now, and one in Nagoya. Both of my stays were excellent. This time, I was traveling...

This hotel was perfect. Like what everyone else says, it's across the street from the Takadanobaba subway station. The room didn't seem so small as I expected, just typical Japan size. It wasn't giant but totally livable for 2 people on vacation. Super clean and well decorated.

Across the street from JR Takadanobaba Sta Waseda Exit. Big box across the street as other mentioned with a Uniqlo and 100 Yen shops and some sports facilities upstairs. Staff friendly and efficient, will store bags for you at the front desk. Computer in lobby for use...free internet in room. Room was relatively decent size for a TWIN bedded room....

We stayed in this hotel for three nights, which is conveniently situated close to Shinjuku. The hotel is clean, the staff friendly and the rooms are very small. There is very little space to keep your belongings. We had to keep all our belongings packed in our suitcases while staying here. But the room had no view at all. The...

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

“There are different sized rooms, ask if you are getting a compact room when you book.”
AussiesX5, Apr 13, 2014 | Read review
“Not sure if this is only the case when booking singles, but the bathroom has a clear glass door and a picture window overlooking the sleeping area. Odd I know, but I think otherwise the room would likely feel very claustrophobic. This little architectural nuance could prove problematic if you are on a budget and sharing with someone with whom you are not intimate.”
